I just ran across a thread and many responses. which as a woman of color, who is over 40, that I found very offensive.

I did get a tiny bit nasty, but then I attempted to take the "high road", and decided to not
respond or even keep reading that thread because it could have become ugly.

I love Collar ME and I realize it does take all kinds in this world.
As we approach the New Year, are you going to attempt to take the High Road in Life,
and particularly on Collar Me?
If so, how?
Please share it might help a few of us out!

If you are here to mainly attempt to make yourself look better by giving snarky or nasty comments spare me, if possible.
If you can't, do so....I understand that also.

Yes, MzMia, I do!

Far be it from Me to be an angry chef in these forums; I left that attitude in the kitchen and reserve it for the slave I will use in the bedroom. I am very humorous and can take a joke. I like the forums for the insight and the intelligent opinions/banter that some individuals post. I will admit noticing a lot of judgement is thrown around on a lifestyle/dating site that should be tolerant of all kinds of people. But, in this arena, you win some, you lose some.

I don't take the high road- because 99% of the time that sort of term is used it's just an ego stroke for the person and an insult to the others.

I take the road that works best for me.  I think I'm pretty normal, which means I like to think I'm a good person, but I know I've done shitty things and probably will again, on purpose.

We certainly have different ideas on what the high road is.

In this case, for ME, it means not engaging in what will surely be a nasty fight, endless
debate, possible very ugly on-line confrontational situation.

I don't actually consider the "high road" to be such a lofty place.
On-line it can mean, making a short to the point comment, then getting the hell off that thread!
IMHO it could mean not stooping to a lower level, or engaging in a sure-fire nasty debate.

whats wrong with just letting people be who they are?  All this PC is creating a world of liars and fakes.  Since they cant tell you to your face they are bigoted they smile and give you the impression they are then behind your back when in like company do their thing anyway.

I personally prefer people layint their cards on the table because it is more reality based rather stab me when me back is turned.

It does allow people the fantasy that all the world is happy happy land.  sort of like the gun control and government is good advocates.

Want my opinion?  Get in there and do some ass whoopin.  It may not be the high road but its the right road imo

LOL
I sorta like not being in Collar Me time out.
I can make my point, without wallowing in the mud.

Hell yeah, you and me finally agree on something.

Well said RealOne, bravo.

I'll just add that there's no reason to go out of your way to be low down, mean and nasty but still, when you're discussing issues it's good to not have to worry excessively over each and every word and letter. And I think it should be acceptable to be passionate about what you believe in. That's not all bad, passion.

You know, if it's been eatting at you this much, you can just address it.

I'm of the opinion that "the high road" is a full-of-shit philosophy.  If you don't care, and don't answer it for that reason, that's one thing.  It's another to think that silence is somehow morally superior.

I have had to adopt a similar action on threads in the past.  Perhaps it was a year or so ago that I read one thread in particular that was highly offensive, racially charged, and instead of blasting off continually, I opted out of the thread.  For me that was the high road, and one that allowed me to continue to stay active on Collarme and let the other posters do the same.  It saved me from anxiety, anger, and high blood pressure.  I was pretty sure the exchange that could have ensued wouldn't have been about communicating or a meeting of the minds, but just endless arguing.  I'd make the same decision again under similar circumstances.  Why read stuff that puts me in a bad place?

If "high road" means not stating my point of view, no, I don't take it.

The whole point of a forum is to state ones opinion on something posted. Otherwise what's the point of coming into a forum? You can't expect to ask questions and only get answers that you agree with. People answer a question, as we all do, only as they interpret it and from their personal experience.

If that is confrontive or offensive to someone, they must have very thin skin.

I take what I consider the high road, but I am still very blunt in what I have to say. I am pretty good at concentrating on what I like rather than what I do not... and that helps

From my observations people always find reasons to hate each other, if not color it would be something else.  Take politics for instance.  Ok lets not.

As I stated twice, I DID address it in that thread and on this thread.
I can make my point in so many ways.
When did not engaging in fighting and endless debates make someone "morally superior"?
Taking the high road hardly makes someone morally superior, in my book.

But then we all have different standards.

I realize we all have different levels of reading comprehension skills, but as I also said
taking the "high road" online can be a matter of just not wallowing in online squabbles and engaging in nasty debates.
Thanks for the input.

I think I take the 'high road' about 98% of the time.  I'm human, and certain statements just pull my trigger.  But in general, I try to remember that whatever I might be writing to another person in a thread, there'll be over 100 people who don't particularly care to read what a pile of crap I think that person is.  By keeping in mind that I'm writing a) for myself, and b) for the world at large, I feel less compelled to write to the c)unt who just pissed me off.

That doesn't excuse the lack of integrity shown by the fabrication of libelous quotations and their malicious and defamatory attribution.
