i'd like to add another question on to this..
If you are someone who does not like confrontation,  how would you go about confronting  ? This may seem very easy to many, but it may not be for other's. i hope that makes sense. How appropriate is it to just let it all out ?

Ask them upfront sometime after you've done the preliminary break the ice stuff, are you married, do you have children, do you have a girlfriend, when were you last married, etc.  If they want to meet in a hotel room, start asking more questions.  If they can't talk to you ever in the evenings, start asking more questions.  If they won't tell you where they live (assuming you're at that point), start asking more questions.

Nods.. i think so by now, though if you have the red flags even while you ask the queston, more than likely you won't believe him either way, hence the more questions. It all makes sense. Thank you Laurell.
Hehe.. as someone said earlier, if it acts like a duck, and sounds like a duck, it probably is one!

i am thankful to all and appreciative of the sharing !

Wow.
No wonder I'm having trouble finding friends! I'm a married guy, perfectly upfront with everyone, (wife and any potential outside partners) yet it seems I'm to be hated on sight! I'll have to discuss this with my wife and my lover when we have her over for Christmas dinner next weekend.

Seriously, if you want to find out if your new friend is actually a lying bastard, try Googleing his name... see if there are any women who also post under his online account. Or if he mentions a wife in any of his online messages. Check for web pages that might mention them together... check the Yellow Pages, and see if there are any women with his last name, who live at his same address. (Not 100% certain, but it will give you something to go on.) Definitely turn into Nancy Drew at the beginning of your relationship. Trust is something that has to be earned, not just given as a matter of course.

And, if you find out he is married... do you then call and tell HER?

lol definately not hated on sight ... You are not cheating, lying, decieving or in anyway underhanded ... I do not have a problem with a married man in your situation, You are not asking any one to skulk around, or hide ... You are not "secretly" anything ... more power to you ... if anything you are to be admired for your ethics and honesty

just my 2 cents worth

After that sex comment, i would think that that would be enough to say bye-bye.

Yes, I finally said good bye.  I had been thinking of it for weeks.  I deserve better

AngelicAgony -> RE: Secretly Married or attached to a vanilla People (12/18/2007 8:09:31 AM)

Yes, so many emotions.  A little sad but I also feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.  Live and learn.  With each experience I learn something new.

Should i be finding my cheerleading uniform?  [;)]
Nods.. what is really a good thing is when you are able to acknowledge that weight and know it is time.
You will be ok AngelicAgony.

Some of the "classic" ones are: repeatedly disappearing or "poofing" when you're chatting online.  With the technology today, connections are much better than they used to be.  (Yes, I know some of you live in the middle of nowhere and have dial-up and you still get booted off, but in general....).  Many times, "poofing" means wifey just walked in the room and he had to ditch you fast.

Why don't you tell f-ing AT&T to put broadband in my neighborhood?  I live in a suburb of Sacramento, actually have a Sacramento address.  I used to have broadband and these idiots changed the station location or whatever.  They've been promising 'its no more than two years away' for five years now.

Can you believe AT&T won't offer broadband to a subdivision?  What lazy a-holes.  BTW I hate AT&T.

you can use google earth  to zoom in on an address (once you get it) and see what cars are in the driveway.
