" I may not agree with what you say, but I will fight for your right to say it"

And on this site, she does not have the right to say it, ....

here's another saying:  Them's that pays the bills, makes the rules.....

Hahahahahahahaha....well said!

My Dad used to own a retail store a kabillion years ago (60's - 70's)....he had a rule:  "No employees are allowed to smoke on the sales floor (of course, back in the day when smoking in a place of business...including a retail store, just wasn't considered innapropriate)...Dad was on the floor talking to a customer about whatever it was they wanted to buy, Dad's having a smoke...I had a Pepsi and he said "give me that can son".  Of course I did, and later I asked him "Dad...you said 'no one can smoke on the sales floor'....you were smoking!!!".....he said "son, I believe in the Golden Rule and that's why I can smoke on the sales floor".

Being a fairly intelligent kid, I knew the golden rule, and it sure didn't have anything to do with smoking....so I said "Dad, what's the golden rule have to do with smoking????!!!!" To which he replied...."See everything all around you?"  "Yes" I said...."It's all mine...I make the gold here...and I make the rules, now go get your Dad another Pepsi".

Made sense to me.

Whos paying the bills here? According to these very wise rules the Moderators are paying the bills? Are they? If not who has the rule of law? the site owners or the advertizers?

Do you honestly think you have a right to know who pays the site's bills?  That's awfully presumptuous of you.  Since you're such a fan of The Princess Bride, perhaps this quote from Westly as the Dread Pirate Roberts will work for you;  "Get used to disappointment."

petpete -> RE: Whats the funniest part of CM?? (12/25/2007 11:44:51 AM)

Cause me the idiot thought i would put a posting on the humor section too.. So they wiped it off.. At least they kept it here..

Do you read the posts you respond to?? I was responding to a comment that they who pay the bills rule. Since when is a comment on someone elses logic an assumption that I really care? Why are you so indignant to back and forth sharing of opinion and comments? I am not disapponted so there is nothing to get use to.

Petdave is pretty funny.

I could be funny if people weren't so angsty over what I post.

The site owners (who pay the bills that the advertising that the site owners  arrange does or does not adequately cover, and are responsible for keeping the site running) are the ones who make the rules and the site owners decide who the Moderators are that the site owners choose to  trust to enforce the forum guidelines and  site TOS that the site owners wrote.....Did that answer your question?  No matter what the answer to your question of "who pays the bills here" is, it's pretty safe to say it's not you.

edited to add:  None of the above was said in anger, nor because I care who owns the site or what they do.  My point was they can do whatever they want in appointing administration to run their site.  What is the difference between that any any owner of a brick and mortar building actually hiring(whether paid or volunteer) who they want?  If a patron comes into a restaurant and says they dont like the waitstaff because they feel they got shitty service or someone was rude to them, should the owners HAVE to fire their staff immediately, or do they actually have a choice as the owners to react how they wish.  The patrons of course have a choice also.  They can walk out of the establishment, indignant or not, and never spend another dollar there........oh wait, in this case, never spend another moment there (because there are no dollars exchanged here).  Those same choices would still apply even if the owners offered discounted or FREE services because of signage they had on the walls inside/outside or billboards in the parking lot that paid fees to the owners to advertise there.  It would still be the owners original choice to make, and in the case of moderators and forum guidelines here, they have been made.  You, like the restaurant patron, have the choice to make on whether you continue to use their services or not.  They apparently have made their choice, what will yours be?

If you think your the only one thats twisted and makes all these twisted posts wait till you see the indecent ones which i post. i wont mention that i will have to be looking to reinstate cause there all my locals are wacky.. They just cant see that in them.. All they have to do is ask someone that they call "vanilla" what they thoughts are, and they will be told to be placed in a sanitarium and never to be allowed out of there straight-jackets.. Cheers girl!! (Are you at least a girl?? With a name like that i can only presume so..)

Rianne -> RE: Whats the funniest part of CM?? (12/25/2007 6:53:37 PM)

The funniest part to me is how some people try so hard to find something....anything...that they can object to or find fault in and then show how they're above it in some moral, philisophical, or other way, or my personal favorite...to show how they're much more all-accepting than the poster.

A person could post about liking the color white on here and I swear someone would jump in to be the first to confront them for being  narrow minded.

The "Generalisation Police"

Certain members - invariably female subs - scan every post and wait to pounce with "you are generalising!  You cannot  make sweeping conclusions like that!!!  Blah blah blah....."

But do they then add any novel thought of their own?

Nope.

They live to catch and criticise others in the evil crime of generalisation (especially newbies who have not wised up to the bland political correctness of CM, yet)

Hmmmm....now, I'm not so sure of that.  My rule is always "follow the money".

The advertisers have the money (follow me on this)....so that makes THEM the real infuencers....then again, if the advertisers send the owners of CM a check, is that really money until it's actually deposited?

And then who has the money?

Thaaaaaat's riiiiiight....the bank.

Okay...we're getting somewhere now.

So...I want you to get in touch with the owners and have them send over a copy of this post to the bank and you let them know in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that I know what kind of shit they've been pulling...and it's gonna stop RIGHT THIS INSTANT!!!!

I want this shit resolved no later than Thursday a.m. (duplicate copies to my office by tomorrow at 8:30).

Ya hear me????

(Said, of course in the most submissive of ways).
