quote:
ORIGINAL: kittiekatt I think they're prostitutes. If You aren't doing what You're doing for the joy of doing it, then why? You're making people pay, for sexual activities. That's a prostitute. Well, by your definition of the word prostitute, anyone working for a living and not for the pure joy and love of it, is by definition, a prostitute. The key to why your point is erroneous is that you are assuming that professional Dom's are selling sex, when clearly that isn't the case. Oh, I am not saying none ever do, only that the ones who are strictly acting out a role or playing a part, and not engaging in the sale of sex, are not prostitutes. I can see where people believe they are though, but it is a common misconception in my opinion, not to mention a way to disempower women in general, by classifying this particular activity as prostitution, when it isn't. In fact, I would go further and say that Escorts that are not selling sex are also not prostitutes. Prostitution, by strict definition, is the sale or sollicitation of sex, period. If a woman is selling her services as an actress, which a Dom in this setting clearly is, how is that prostitution? The same question could apply to escorts. By the way, on a side note, I personally think that prostitution should not be illegal and it is yet another attempt by a Patriarchal socioeconomic system to strip even this marginal power from women. I have never gone to a prostitute, nor would I. However, to legislate sex, in my honest opinion, is appaling and absurd. <edited out some typos>
