Actually I do try to stick to a one ounce serving of nuts, I have one of those medicine cups and it is marked that one ounce is a full med. cup.

LeMis?  That probably is not an ounce of nuts.  Medicine cups are liquid ounces.  A serving of nuts is measured by weight.  You cannot put something in a liquid measure that is measured by weight and have it accurate.  It might be close, it might not.  For example, an ounce of popcorn is a bigger amount than an ounce of nuts.

If you really want it to be accurate (although if what you are doing works for you, then that is great), then what you might do is find a small bag of nuts, like the kind sold at convenience stores, and try to find a one ounce bag, or a two ounce bag (and divide it in half), then pour that into your measure and see how it compares.  Then you'll know.

I thought about it after I wrote that and decided (like you) that it was probably one ounce weight, I have a scale so I will measure it that way next time I package up some nuts.

BTW, the package of nuts that you buy in convience store weighs 1.75 ounces.

Thanks for the input.

Scientific support for how protein affects hunger. The article also says that fat does not have a hunger-supressing effect, but for me it seems to.

Fat seems to have much more of a satiating effect for me, too.

For the person asking about breakfast cereal, several pages back: there is a brand named Hi-Low that we used to buy ... there's a plain and one (barely) flavored with strawberries.

Coconut milk and oil are fine ... but whenever you buy any oil, be sure to buy UNREFINED! Refined coconut oil is terrible for you, and it's the same with most of the others out there. We mainly use olive oil is vast quantities for cooking, but I keep coconut oil around as a substitute for Crisco when greasing pans (it's also good for your hair).

There's an excellent book out called Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill that you oughta take a look at, as people are talking about fats.

Funny, Atkins insisted it was fat that was satiating and said that because of that, folks on his plan often ate less than folks on other diets...but felt fuller, happier...and didn't get that 'gaunt' look and dry skin that some get.  Yup, I'm a convert!
