well i'm glad You found me amusing. So why is Voltaire You're favorite philosopher?

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 2:56:44 AM)

Basically because he had the cojones to fight the greatest power in the world and no matter what elsed happened he never gave in. not an inch. And through all of it he never lost his sense of humor or tolerance. To me he is the prime example of what all people should aspire to be.

like Vonnegut!
anything to do with satire and i am on board! it's part of the reason why i read Candide. i think satire is one of the very few things that can get to people. it gives them an issue but presents it with a sugar coated outside.

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 3:01:37 AM)

I love Satire because it is comedy that makes you think. thinking happens way too rarely nowadays

PrizedPosession -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 3:05:25 AM)

agreed. In one of my journalism classes we were discussing newspapers and the teacher mentioned Karl Marx and this girl behind me goes "Who's Karl Marx?" and after explaining it my friend goes "What are You talking about he's an actor from the silent film era."

the girl believed him (for what reason i still don't know)
it's a pity how many don't engage in intellectual conversation, i have my moments but i'm human after all.

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 3:08:45 AM)

too true. I cant count the number of people who say bless you when I say nietzsche. Or stare at me blankly when I ask what they think of the lack of seperation of church and state. It pisses me off sometimes.

PrizedPosession -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 3:10:29 AM)

some people just shouldn't breed lol.
just kidding..sort of

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 3:22:15 AM)

I am a firm believer that people should have to apply for and receive a licence to breed. In all seriousness I think it could potentially solve many problems at once, of course so would the state of Utah actually putting monies INTO education.

The licencing program would be easy, there are many reversable forms of birth control with very high sucess rates, just put them in place when the kid hits 8 and renew as needed, until they qualify for- and get a licence.

PrizedPosession -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 3:28:59 AM)

sounds like you got it all figured out. good luck with that lol. i hope utah lets you fulfill your dreams of a philosophical think tank within a few miles of yourself :)

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 3:30:51 AM)

Utah and think dont really mix. I wonder what the ramifications would be of kidnapping stupid ppl nd forcing contraceptives on/in them? might be worth it.

NorthernGent -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 3:33:15 AM)

We were never as free as we were under the German occupation (or something like that) - Sartre.

Fail to prepare; prepare to fail - (not sure who)

Women are not born, they are made (or something like that) - Simone de Beauvior (spelling could be out).

PrizedPosession -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 3:33:54 AM)

lol. i bet You wouldn't get much if you claim it was a "public service for the good of the masses" people always get away when they say that.
and if all else fails plea insanity

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 3:39:05 AM)

Or just have a patsy. or get them to sign something allowing me too, (maybe in exchange for lottery tickets, people do crazy stupid shit for those) I've already talked with my partner, and when my UM hits 10, its norplant or IUD time :P

**you just have to make sure those tickets dont win anything or else there might be a mutiny

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 3:50:46 AM)

Simple, fix the lottery, make it so someone who can be trusted "wins". Televise it. People believe everything they see on TV. Just look at all the people who think professional wrestling is real.

oh, and almost 4 mos (We like to plan ahead.)

PrizedPosession -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 3:52:24 AM)

i noticed the whole planning ahead thing here...do you have everything mapped out or do you plan on being surprised at some point? :)

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 3:55:23 AM)

Well,  Im not sure what im havin for breakfast, does that count? I plan a lot, I like feeling in control, and in order for me to *really* feel in control there has to be some sort of plan involved. If not my plan then at least one I have approved. Luckily, its as close to OCD as I get. and I do play with it, I usually only plan the broad scope out. (schedule, time taken, etc)

PrizedPosession -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 3:58:34 AM)

well control is something that Doms should have a handle on.
if not us subs would be out of luck lol

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 4:02:35 AM)

Yup, I plan but I still keep the suprise intact for the subbie. More fun for both of us. I like suprising people. It makes me feel good to see that look on someone's face, no matter my relationship to them.

PrizedPosession -> RE: Quotes for 500, Alex (1/12/2008 4:17:13 AM)

i know exactly what you mean. Master is coming to visit and i have a bunch of stuff for Him when He gets there but it took everything not to tell Him. *i'm really excited!
But like in Dan in real life i feel that if you plan for anything...plan to be surprised
