     Every workday, "Parker" sits in the seat adjacent to my own in the employee cafeteria, and relates the lurid details of a capsized marriage.

    "I only get fucked once every few months, and she's sooooo domineering. My wife is just asking for a divorce."

     "Parker" is a fourth-generation, Boston-raised Mick: high-strung, heavy drinking, passive-aggressive. There's a certain desperate intensity that I find thoroughly entertaining in "Parker's" body-language and overall presentation.

    "Instead of getting sex, I have to resort to internet porn.......and man, do I have alot of it. She won't even watch it with me!"

     I see the whole pathetic tableau in my mind's eye: a balding, pasty-fleshed "Parker", frantically jerking off to thirty second porno clips -- pulling and puffing-- until a couple meager droplets of cum dribble down the side of his half-erection.

Something moves me about Parker's failures.........the fact that his God-given marital union has succumbed to coldness, frigidity, and an obsession with non-nutritive cock and cunt flicks. Finally, I gather up the boldness to speak my mind out loud.

   "Parker......have you ever thought about embracing the lessons of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ?"

     Parker tells me that he's jaded with an abusive, Roman-Catholic upbringing. "My interests lie more in the realm of Buddhism, I guess."

   I wonder why it is that the lost sheep always move towards Buddhism, or some half-baked "Goddess" paganism. Somewhere, along the road, Christianity become the uncool kid among "world religions". Maybe the effort required to be a Christian is unappealing to the "thirty-minutes or less" generation, - a generation that would rather receive a neat and tidy clinical diagnosis like "bipolar" or ADHD, than deal with spiritual issues.

   I spoke to Parker some more about Christ's blessings and sacrifice, but I can only hope that he took it to heart.

There is a big different between leading and dragging and sounds like you are the type to drag,Testifying about your savior is your right but keep it out out of everyones ear that doesn't wish to hear...MY opinion and I am sticking to it...bounty

Pushing religion on someone in the workplace could be considered that. Unless you work for a religious organization.

You mean Christians automatically have fulfilling marriages and also quit whacking off???? Puh-leassssse!

I do agree that if you want to try to help him find religion again, a less heavy-handed approach might make it more palatable to him. Perhaps invite him to church or suggest he might benefit from speaking with your Pastor might be a less threatening way to start.

I have to admit that I am a bit disappointed to hear that my CollarMe peers think an attempt to heal a failed marriage should be classified as "random stupidity." Oh well..............I guess we all have our opinions. Either way, I wish Parker and his wife the best of luck.

BountyHunter; I try my best not to drag. Parker seems to relish my attention and, for some odd reason, really enjoys my company. In situations like those, I just attempt to do the right thing in the most non-demanding manner possible. I don't want Parker's life to be awash in desperation and futile searching.......turning up the car radio on the way home so that he doesn't have to be confronted with his own sour emptiness. If I come off as some sort of asshole, I just want everyone to know that that wasn't my intention.

From what I have observed, people who look to buddhism, or other "half baked" "(you gonna upset some people with that term) religions are finding exactly what they are looking for, a more spiritual path, without all the rules, greed, war, hypocrisy and abuse they found in other more "recognised" religions?
I dunno, I lost my faith when I was 15, I havent turned to any other religion. I steer clear of all religions. I never was one for following convention I guess. Im not a lost sheep tho, Im just taking a detour.

I don't think christianity has anything to do with saving marriages (how many marriages are performed within the christian faith that end up divorced?), shouldn't be brought up at work in that way, and certainly has no ground to stand on when discussing something being "half baked."
