i prefer the title Daddy.............. [:D] then again, that only really works with those who have Daddy/girl (or son) relationships.... and i would have no problem calling him "Sir" in public as a way of showing Daddy respect.

My submissives call me " My Lady" in public .. and people never seem to notice or if they do .. think they are " smitten" or "romantic" so it works for both lifestyle events and vanilla...... basically I think people just dont pay as much attention as we think they do.

AS a child of the south Yes mamm and yes sir ,is all most automatic for my elders,Thats the way we were raised and thats the way I taught my children and this is the way my eldest taught my only grandchild,,,Our property uses maam and sir when we are in a more laide back situation,At formale gathering its Mistreess and master or my Lord...On occasions I may have one working for me and in a situation ie businees dinnner or meetings they may use my given name ..william...WE have had several male slaves to use the moniker Lord William which was given to me in Nam by the commanding general,I sort of like lord william it has a solid ring to it..enought rambeling..,its sir or maam at home and in a more formal setting its Mistress and Master...

well thats an odd call i know in my relationship unless im doing any SCA related stuff MY dom is called M' Lord no matter what and all other doms that we respect and i address are addressed as Sir or M' Lord depending on if it is a sca event or not. master to me is something that i some times but not always call my dom and he is ok with it but i think for most people they have pet names that they call each other or a name that they prefer to be called no matter what.

I have been called "Sir" and "Master" before by the two slaves I have owned in my lifetime. Both titles were given to me, in a way, by them. "Sir" worked for one, and "Master" worked for the other. In play with people that I am not in a committed relationship with, I have, on occasion, made a woman call me "Sir", as a part of a scene, but only during that scene. I have been called "Sir", many times just out of protocol by s-women who have been trained to address all D-men that way at parties. I do not feel that I have the right to give myself a title, however, since I believe that a self-granted title carries no weight. When I find my next slave perhaps she will also gift me with a title appropriate to our relationship and her protocol-related needs. It must happen in a way which is natural for both of us though.

We don't use the word Master, for two reasons. The first and most important is that it does not feel natural to either of us. To us it feels more formal than we enjoy being. The second reason is a little more, well, amusing. I've thought about saying it, but it would probably come out in a British accent - "Master Richie! Master Richie!". Sorry. Richie Rich connotations are not the best to get you into the right head space. Neither are memories of Young Frankenstein. Lord just sounds too British. We use Sir. Being from Louisiana it is a common term of respect, but I feel that is why it seems right. I respect Him, and while I would use Sir to people in general I do not use it with friends and have never used it with a lover. To use it with Him just fits.

I call him Master. "Sir" seems less formal for me. I called him Sir when we first began speaking. Now if I called him that, it would seem like going backwards, and he'd probably ask me what the fuck I was doing. Sometimes, when wrapped up in passion, I call him Owner, Keeper, King, or Love. Once I called him baby, without even thinking, and then gasped that I did, lol. I used to have trouble wrapping my brain around those who referred to their Owners as Lord, but it was explained to me a long time ago in a way that made sense, so I dropped my baggage about it. I tend to call elderly men Sir out of respect.

I use all of these terms to address my Master. 'Sir' feels light and informal to me. 'Master' is my usual address. I use 'Lord' on occasion, to mix it up a bit. There is a bit of distance, I think, and respect, and a delination of our relationship created when using a form of address for him rather than his name. The hottest thing was when he instructed me to use his first name when orgasming with him ... in that moment it brings us completely together as one, and I love it.

In my subbie days I had a bit of a squicky issue with Master.. and certainly calling someone God would make me think them dyslexic. No issues with saying Yes Sir, No Sir, On my knees now Sir? Certainly. Or calling someone Lord. Also using thier name ( given) has always been fine as well. Personaly I hate it when people email me "Mistress this and Mistress that" Ma'am is fine and respectful as is my name. I guess I have heard too much sniveling and boot licking with the Mistress crap that it just irks me at this point unless it comes from one of my boys who has been with me for years. After listening to me discuss medieval customs between a liegelord and bondservant with another SCA afficianado, my sub started addressing me as "my Liege". Sounds odd in this day and age but it works. <grin> Stefan

for me, Sir, sounds way tooo ordinary like Mr, Dr and other everyday titles. hubby chose Master and thats what we've gone with so far, tho I must admit Lord has a lovely ring to it, I shall have to mention that to Master, see what he thinks. as for when I switch and am in my top/domme mind set? I prefer Mistress/Darque Princess/Darque Goddess, but thats just me[:)]

I've found this works the best: 1) Use whatever you want for whatever reasons you want. 2) Don't expect or demand that others use it. I use Master for myself (obviously). This was/is a matter of self identification and a reference to my spiritual path. The only people I expect to use it are mine. If mine don't, there's something wrong. Master Fire

As most people know, Alandra and I refer to him as 'my Lord' as in Lord of the Manor. Any slave that he owns would refer to him in that way and a dear friend of his will also use that title once in a while. It is a title that he does not want anyone else to use. He introduces himself to most people by first name and that is how is wishes to be addressed. When I first met him, I asked him how he wanted to be addressed and he said I could use 'Sir' if I thought he earned that respect from me. However, if I chose to address him in that manner then I should also be consistent with it. To stop addressing him as Sir and use his name or nickname would communicate to him that he had lost my respect. These days I could not imagine calling him anything other than 'my Lord' or 'my Love'. When others use his given name it takes me a moment to figure out who they are referring to. Knight's Kyra
