Sir is my Knight. I call him Sir on a regular basis. Master is a Laurel. While I respect and care for both of them, there are alot of Sir so-n-sos and Master so-n-sos. Just about anyone anymore is a Lord or a Lady, you can get an AOA in 6 months, less if you go hunting on the weekends with the King. Honorable Lord takes a bit more time, but no one actually calls you that unless you get called up in court.

Holy crap! I have not been kissin' butts or something.. I dont have an AOA and I have been in for 22 years.. LOL

I dodge it actualy. *chuckles* I _refuse_ to kiss butt. Two of my best friends.. ( seen em naked kinda best friend) made Queen and I wouldnt let them give me one.

Gwyn,
Who is working on her Feast menu for the next Res Textilia. *Happy Dance*

Daddy is known as the eternal squire....27 years so far as a squire and so far no white belt. He's said that if he was to get handed one now, he'd just hand it back. Dont worry thought Gwyn, Ive no AOA either, although Id love to get one so I have a way to keep my veil from falling off.

*chuckles* yeppers..

I want a GOA so I can finally wear that nifty double Dragon Diadem someone bought for me thinking I already had a GOA. *sighs*

Since I am feastcrating your comming right? *smiles and winks*

Gwyn

Kerjin -> RE: Sir, Master, Lord (1/22/2008 1:39:40 PM)

Interesting question.  And I do love the various points of view that I've seen thus far.

As far me, it's very simple. It's all about respect.  Since I'm military trained, "Sir" means respect.  I was also raised in the South so Sir and Ma'am are naturals as well.  Master / Mistress leaves no question at all in ones mind nor does Lord or Lady.  Heck, I even believe that "Hey you" can be said respectfully enough if a bottom is trained to do so.  :)

So, in my book;

All of them are valid terms for the Dominant.

Sir/Ma'am means respect to someone, specially if you don't know who they are.
Master/Mistress means in charge, owner if you will.
Lord or Lady is also one in charge, but to me I get the Lord of a Manor picture or a Medieval Castle.

I prefer out of those three using Master. But I really love having a Dom I can call "daddy". I'm usually into the Daddy/Lil girl dynamic.

As a formal title, if you will, I use Lord as part of My name. both My sub/wife & My slave call Me Master or sometimes Sir. Sir normally means they are going to doing something right away as directed. Either is fine as it shows respect, and devotion. Just My thoughts.
