My master had me find a collar that would work for at home and out in public. I have a large leather collar with a big ring on the front. It's very heavy, and impractical for outside of the home. The collar I wear most of the time is a knock off Omega necklace. It wasn't extremely expensive, only about 20 dollars, but it means the world to me. I love when he puts it on me because he'll often kiss the back of my neck sweetly as he does so. It's actually rather durable, could shower with it on, and I can sleep with it on.

You are sooo lucky kitty you didn't have my ex Mistress collaring you... She put on a chain on me as heavy as the one i use on the back yard to padlock my fence. Actually its got versatile use, for when i ride my bike i can take my collar of and secure it when i find a post... She thought that she will have me looking like Sid Vicious.... It only takes 1/2 an hour of wearing it and my neck turned red and worn out. If i do the mistake to take a dive with it in a pool i will go straight to the bottom....

I love my collars. I have two, one that I help designed and one he bought for everyday wear. When we were first together and still online, I was very nervous about what kind of collar he would want me to wear. I have a very specific style with jewelery and wearing most of the things I saw on BDSM collar sites were not going to work for me and my happiness. Thankfully, he is very indulgent and allowed me to guide him in the direction I prefer.

Now, I trust him completely to buy me any piece of bling he wants. [:D]

i adore the collar my Lord made for me.there are times like showering or in public that it has to be taken off.i don't feel right without it in any way. when it is off i wait for my Lord or Mistress to put it back on me and lock it in place. when we are out and about my Mistress gave me an ornate necklace She and our Lord purchased at the Grand Canyon for who would become Their slave,that is what i wear in public.i adore that one just as much as the other one.

i truly like the fact that it is one that He made,it is so much more personal to me than what a pre ordered one would be.

i have a "Hephaistos" collar from Axmar- http://www.axmar.de/_english/index.htm - and i love it... i do get comments on it from time to time (probably once a month or so- i've been wearing it since 24/7 since October 2003), but since i have long hair, a bunch of earrings, and usually wear all black, i don't think people outside the lifestyle usually realize why i'm wearing it. And it will hide under a shirt collar/tie when needed. They also make a more feminine-looking style called the "Talena". While they don't have a conventional key lock, they do fasten with an extremely small hex wrench (unusual enough that i don't have one... and i have a LOT of tools). i believe that Mr. S Leather distributes for them in the States, or at least that's where mine is from.

I thought the eternity collars were nice until people starting commenting on how "heavy" they are.  I know that would drive me nuts because I don't wear much jewelry and I would not want to feel the weight of it.  Although that probably is the point of it.

Daddy has talked of getting one of the bracelets from that site for me.  i have a wonderful collar he bought me, and an id bracelet with his pet name for me on it.

the collar is a stainless steel cable necklace, with a heart charm on it.

As RoughFN pointed out, a collar doesn't necessarily need to be something worn around the neck.  Master believes a collar is a symbol of ownership and can be anything that is meaningful between the two of us.  We had discussed the practicality of a clit ring with a dogtag, but are going to go with pierced nipples.  Piercings alone, done for Him and with Him sharing the experience, would be enough for me, but He has picked out a set of very classy chains to attach to the rings.  He also knows that He won't need to pull as hard on my chains as He would with a leash, thereby reducing the strain on His Domly Self.  (that's going to get me a red butt, for sure!...well, i hope so, anyway)

I have 3 collars  my first is a simple plain black one for play that one  is comfortable actually they all are.  My everyday collar looks like a necklace a gold ring with diamonds.  My fancy going out collar is also necklace looking, a heart with alterning emeralds and diamonds.  I love them all.

I honestly like my collar. It`s nothing expensive, luxurious or even esthetic. But I love it, though it`s a simple red dog collar made from leather. I don`t wear it infront of other people of course, but He always puts it on me when we`re together alone. And I have to say I like the way it feels and looks on my skin :) It might sound a little idealistic, or I dunno, but the simple fact that He collared me because of His love, the symbol that my collar represents, makes me love that little piece of red leather :)

I agree.  Master didn't want me feeling weighed down, but wanted something large and chain-like.  It's why titanium worked so well - it's very light, durable, yet fits his criteria for "thickness".

The Talena is actually what my master wants to get for me- he say's I'll like it and I'll certainly wear it if he gets it- it's just not what I would choose or want. It's hard that we have completely different styles [8D]

my M'lady and i chose the collar together  it is red my favorite color and a separate one a silver chain with a locking silver pendant for vanilla wear, i love both of them, the lock pendant is losing its silver from my sweat. have to find a new one . i enjoy having M'Lady place the leather one on me i wear it in public when i can gets lots of comments. when i leave her for duty she places the silver one on me and it gives me comfort during the day to feel its weight on me, even my wife likes it!

For every day wear, Master has me wear a BB style chain that's shortened into collar length.  I also have quite a few different fancier collars that I wear when the opportunity presents itself.  I personally love my collar and feel naked without it. 

Have you considered looking into a snake chain as a collar?  Depending on where you go, they aren't very expensive and it might be a good way for you to start.
