Only you can make the decision, I make it once myself, I settled,  and found myself very  unhappy with the choice, but  I was not about the rip that persons life apart just because, so I stayed into the commitment I made for 7 years until something else came up to finally end it, I will continue meeting people until the right one comes along  but never again will I settle.
To me there are big  differences between compromising(the bonuses) and settling(the must haves)

OedipusRexit,

In your avatar is that you checking off the boxes?

I would not contact you because I am not in your price bracket. I find that part of your profile to be somewhat crude. How do you know what sort of poor' diamond in the rough' is out there, and perhaps why she may not be as financially secure as you? The other eerie aspect of your profile for me was the grammar police bit.

You're the second person to mistake what I wrote....

Let me clarify:  If you are on public assistance, permanant disability, or up to your eyeballs in debt, you're not in my league.  If you're all grown up, and you can't manage being an adult better than that, I'm not interested in being your financial support system.

If you find that crude, imagine how crude I find it when someone pretends they have the means to travel, then asks for a handout.  When someone says they have the ability to engage in physical activity, then backtracks because their disability lawsuit won't allow them to be seen being active... etc.

We're here to, among other things, self-select.  You've selected yourself out of my pool of possibles.  We can both live with that.

Cheers.

Edit:  I spoke without looking at Heartcream's profile..  Me and my big mouth.

Also, being bitchy is a very highly coveted attribute that subs look for in a Dom.  You should be having subs come out your ass..What do you think is the problem?

People will interpret what they read through the filter of their own life.  It occurs to me that some who take offense at someone else's profile may do so because they feel personally slighted when they don't meet the stated criteria.   It's tantamount to a rejection and they don't handle it very well.  I wouldn't give it a second thought unless you accept others dictating to you how you should communicate your desires.

I concur and would add that if two people have misinterperted your words in this thread, it is likely that many others have as well.   Perhaps you should reword it to make your meaning more clear.  Many women say they seek a man who is "economically self sufficeint" or something along those lines.

Good points.  I realize the profile is arrogantly worded at times.  I also realize some may react as Treasure suggested, to a perceived pre-rejection.

Hard to draw the line accurately between being open to new things and people, and knowing what turns you off, off, off.

My current mindset is over-jaded.  I find the meetings from the other side of CM have contributed to that, and get a re-charge from the Forum folks.

Don't get a big head about it.... I could turn on you!

Exactly! I get bad mojo from the messages I get sometimes too...I take a break, come here, get silly or really freaking wise (haha) on my posts, then get back into messaging and meeting again.

I don't think your profile is too specific, nor do I find it arrogant. I think you've done some introspective self-discovery and it is expressed in a frank manner.

Promises, Promises.
And honestly - I don't find your profile arrogant at all (then I am biased but) then you want to attract the people you would be attracted to and can relate to in some way, yes?

Ahhh.... always so kind, you are (like Yoda, I speak today...)

I really never let a bad email get me down.  What does get me down is when I meet someone in person and I have to stifle the impolite urge to say "Oh, you've got to be kidding."

The things people lie about.  And think you won't notice or care...

For those who've suggested poly.

I didn't interepert the OP as being poly;  it seemed to indicate wanting only to one person.  Not knocking poly btw, for some it works quite well.  Finding someone capable of fulfilling X and another one to fulfill Y though, is NOT poly by definition I've ever seen: its 2 seperate relationships being maintained to fulfill both desires.  Again, that sort of thing does work, theres a lot of people with both a vanilla spouse and a Dom/sub at the same time.

I have thought over my position and have come to the conclusion that the problem must be "you."

Hopefully subtee or treasure has sent you a message hoping to meet. I hope things go well for the three of you.  People do lie. People will not always present themselves in an accurate light.  Our responsibility to ourselves is to be able to distinguish that which is real from the concocted.   To seek out those that hopefully meet our needs, desires as well as expectations.

Coming out and bitching about it places you firmly in the camp of folks who cannot understand how they can receive rude messages or that people could ever be deceptive.

You need to ask yourself what you are doing wrong which attracts these types of people to you and why you are initially not a better judge of assessing a person's character?

I'm probably just wasting my breath.  No one takes responsibility for shit anymore...It's always the other person's fault....~Yawn~

It's true, no mail, no lies....

I'm not really getting DomiGuy's comments, but then.... I mostly don't.  No worries.  Good thoughts abound.  It's not like I won't do what's right for me, but I knew there were some good people who could expand my horizons a little bit.

I'm soooo into expanding my horizons .... a little bit.
