Status: offline 		Ok  Im gonna look uninformed here but what the hell ... why are some posts " awaiting approval"  and some not ?? and why are they always " awaiting approval" for some posters and not others ?

They're on moderation.  Some longer than others.  Their posts won't show until the Mod approves them.

"Awaiting approval" means there is a period of latency during the moment a moderated member posts and the moment they're 'published' during which the moderators review their posts and deem them worthy or unworthy of 'publication'.

No, there have been new people that come here and post INSANE things and get put on Mod right away that I've seen.  I do think usually for the regular posters you get a few warnings from what I have heard.

Status: offline 		I never felt Mod11's visits to my door were anything more than an attempt to keep discussions civil. It never entered my head that they were anything to do with politics; perhaps there's an element of the persecution complex in the OP. Good to see you've seen the light, Firmhand, and you're on the straight and narrow. And, that ain't a flame; it's more an arm around the shoulder of a old sparring partner and a quiet word in his ear, "it's only a forum, you see".

My point was that Sanity's comment that "we should be treated with at least some respect" made it sound as if we get no respect whatsoever.  I disagree.  The very few times I've heard from Mod XI, she has been very polite and respectful.  To the point, perhaps, and in a tone that brooks no argument... but respectful nonetheless.

It's obvious that it isn't always the case either, when she refers to everyone posting in a given thread as children, and what Alumbrado keeps trying to tell you is accurate.

I do understand your irritation, TM, and I do agree that sometimes it can be a little confusing as to exactly why something we've said earns us censure. 

Then again, when we signed up for membership with CollarMe, we each indicated that we had read and understood the the site's TOS and agreed to abide by them.  We are also adults and hopefully responsible enough to have taken the time to read the guidelines for posting in this forum.

Status: offline 		Okay, I just looked it up, and under their logo on the upper left hand corner of their web page the Free Speech Coalition claims they're "on the front line against censorship".

That makes sense to me, that if they're a free speech coalition, then they'd be for free speech. I'm not demanding the right to say anything I want with impunity, which is a pretty shoddy strawman argument on your part. What I am saying is that it would be nice to not have to feel like we're walking on eggshells all the time, and that it would be great if we weren't made to feel threatened here if our political speech isn't just so. You know, easy on the insults and intimidation.

Yeah, it's a free site. So? Why can't we give them some feedback. Why do we have to feel that if we speak our minds that it might be the last post we make here?

Forums are perfect examples of the "football rule" in practice....CollarMe brings the football and makes up the rules.  If you can't play by the rules, you are welcome to go get your own football (forum) and set the rules!

That's you you get free speech...you set up your own "publication" ... bring your own football to the game....
