okay if you are blind how the heck can you see your writing on here? i only had one program that typed for me once but it was terrible constantly making spelling mistakes.....you would have to have some real major program i suppose that told you everything that was on the computer..

You have obviously not read the thread. I have explain how I am typing and with what program. The program I use is NOT one that comes standard with any computer. It is JAWS. The link is on one of my post if you want to look it up. It is almost 1,000 dollar program. Thanks for responding. You may find it interesting to read the entire thread, before posting your comments about what I can or can not do. MoGa ETA: SB, do you have any comments with regards to my original post?

Goodness! For someone so young, someone has had an incredible lot of stuff happen to him. And methinks he is Superman in disguise - 9 bullets in the chest at point-blank range? and then blindness? Or did the blindness come before the bullets? Bully for you that you have such a fantastic body that can overcome such adversities with almost no aftereffect. I'm sorry that it took me so long to recover from gas gangrene, dying on the operating table, and waking up to discover I was minus a leg, couldn't feel the other foot, had diminished feeling in both hands, and couldn't read any more. I had been a voracious reader for 50 years. Can you even begin to imagine what it's like to have the main thing that brought you joy taken away from you like that? I worked for 35 years - paying my fair share of taxes (truth be told, probably more than my fair share). I tried to go back to work, but you know what? I learned the hard way that 75-80 percent of the blind and visually impaired adults in this fair country of ours are unemployed. Oh, there's always the excuse of "Someone else was more qualified." More qualified than someone with 35 years of experience? Tell that to the Marines! So I'm in business for myself, doing what I loved best about my old career. And I'm not making any excuses about why I can't do this or I can't do that. I try, OK? I grit my teeth and I strain my muscles, and sometimes I can do it, and sometimes I can't . Old bodies don't recover the same as young ones. And certain toxins and diseases affect muscles and joints adversely. When you get to our age and can still bounce back from accidents then come here and crow about it.

He is bragging about his ability to heal quickly, well of course he can. He is 21 years old and according to his profile he is a master at everything he does. Thing is, with each injury your body grows weaker, no matter how much exercise you do. I would give almost anything to go back and make my younger self slow down, stop smoking and just take better care of myself. I was very athletic and reckless. When we are young we do tend to think that there is nothing we can't bounce back from. It is a huge shock to find out we are human after all. I feel sorry for you. I know that the post about being blind means you can't type has already been answered, but it really just blows my mind that people still think this way. It just amazes me that some people think that you have to see to type. Somehow, I always thought that I typed with my fingers. No need for them to see the keys. The little bumps on the "F" and "J" key let me know that I have my fingers on the home keys and my fingers know where the rest of the keys are. In fact, if I stop to think about what I'm typing that's when I make mistakes. Even if there was a reason that a person couldn't type, then there are many programs available that do the typing automatically. Dragon Speak is one that comes to my mind as it is used by the specialist at school. I know MoGA has said she uses the Jaws program.

Last weekend the fistula access for dialysis clotted, for the second time in three months. An attempt was made to unblock it which was unsuccessful. We now wait to see the surgeon early next week to discuss other options (He has a vascath inserted in His chest so He can be dialysed, but we cannot do it at home as we were doing....[:o] ). I am so scared that we are running out of options, and I will lose my Sir too soon [:(] And all He is worried about is me [&o] MoGa, you have my utmost admiration [:)] I am sure you have your down moments, as do we all, yet your love of life and your wonderful sense of humour shine through your postings. Hi kajiramre, Thank you for responding. My F and J keys are marked with huge bubbles lol so no mistaking them. I also typed 55 wpm when I had sight. I am looking into the dragon speak program. I can't afford the JAWS program (900.00 +) and my free trial is almost done :( I need to find something fast! lol MoGa

MoGa Thank you so much [:)] We are coping, we have each other, and the nursing staff have been wonderful. There was a man in the bed opposite Sir in the ward. His fistula clotted as well, and couldn't be fixed, and he has even less options left than Sir does....but he still smiled and joked with us. The strength of the human race continues to amaze me [:)]
