I am very confident in myself and I know I am no devil's spawn, I also am not a disfunctional jealous twit that longs to belong to any female "in crowd" I am simply me, being me, happily living my life. I welcome anyone that will accept me as I am without trying to change me to fit their preconceived notion of what they think I should be.

I will always detest the "in crowd" (clique) mentality. It creates blinders and negative predjudism against anyone that doesn't quite fit.

See, that's exactly what I've been trying to say all along, but I lack your literary skills, Tigresse.

I know what you mean.  A perfect example:  I attended my 15th 8th grade high reunion.  That would have made me ... about 25 or so.  The girls that were in the 'in crowd' all through grade school STILL were acting like twits - checking out clothes, comparing and contrasting, whispering, etc.  It was one of the funniest and saddest things I'd ever witnessed.  They'd also never gotten out of the neighborhood, getting pregnant at 18, marrying local guys and never expanding their worlds.  (Not that there's anything inherently wrong with it, but in this case it showed how small their world was).  Very telling that they were still clinging to one another instead of doing like the rest of were doing and chatting up all the other people we were in school with and seeing how everyone was.

And I also remember going to my 15th high school reunion.  It was such a pleasure to see that some of the women who didn't give me the time of day in high school because they were in the 'in crowd' had turned into lovely, friendly people.  So it can go both ways - some people more on; others stagnate.

I always feel bad for people who peaked in high school.  But they are good for some laughs.

mnottertail -> RE: Are women born to be bitches? (2/7/2008 12:09:57 PM)

On another thread, someone said... would you really laugh in someones face?

Yes, I would. I just wasn't born with the 'caring' gene. I've peaked at not building pipe bombs.

What you're describing, bound2one, is the exact situation where a group of women seek personal validation through the appartenance to the group. And that is sad, because they leave their individuality at the door.

Thankfully, cliques tend to disappear as people gain some maturity... I maintain that like bitching it's an insecurity issue: it's easier to face the world as a herd of sheep than as a person standing alone. This doesn't make friendship redundant in my eyes, however.

But I don't think cliques are about friendship. They're about power.

KatyLied -> RE: Are women born to be bitches? (2/7/2008 12:10:58 PM)

Okay, you got me, I would probably pretend to be laughing at something else.

Exactley!       The " in crowd"  which was spoken about in Thread Hijacking is just what they were doing.
They can deny/defend/ try and place the focus elsewhere, but anyone who had been reading the same threads I was, could see very clearly a clique had formed  (even it was done accidently it was still formed)

I watched each one post the same types of comments toward the poster. In Fact Not once have I seen any one of them have a difference of opinion on any topic as of yet.  who knows Perhaps I've missed one

The tagline- Yes a male poster made up the name, but it was a redhead that 1st put it to use as her tagline and others followed but she has since removed it.

I thought men would punch each other then get a beer.  Everyone knows that men are physical; chicks are verbal.

Now see, as a woman that has been reading these forums for awhile now, I find this statement very fascinating.

To MY eyes, this thread is new and refreshing. It is bringing a behaviour we see all the time on the threads, to light in a totally different perspective and trying.......TRYING.....to discuss it in a rational, adult manner.

The old and trite would be things like, true sub/dom/slave/domme. Fat threads (my eyes my eyes!!!) Financial domination. Or the "OMG my world is coming to an end because I am a stupid idiot and did xxx, whatever shall I dooooooooooooo?????" Etc etc etc.........

Just me, call me crazy......

RCdc -> RE: Are women born to be bitches? (2/7/2008 12:58:37 PM)

This is Darcy

True Katy, we men will say "You're a cunt" then trade a few blows, then think "fuck this, let's have a beer." [:D]

We are, after all, simple creatures. [;)]

Jeffff -> RE: Are women born to be bitches? (2/7/2008 12:58:43 PM)

We don't punch as often as it seems......and sweetie?....verbal is one thing...we wish you all were more oral

Jeff

No condescension was meant by the use of the term.."sweetie"...no sweeties were harmed in the making of this post. The use of the term sweetie does not neccesarily reflect the views of Collar Me.

Kalista07 -> RE: Are women born to be bitches? (2/7/2008 1:13:31 PM)

LaTigresse,
i guess what i meant by trite was the fact that some posters could not pull back their claws enough and some have been modded for a set period of time, some indefinitely, and some have been banned from the forums...If it was simply a free exchange of ideas or beliefs i think i might find it a fascinating subject as well.
