This thread is not aimed at one person in particular...Although truth be told there is one poster who i pray to all that is both holy and unholy that they regain their senses long enough to not post on this thread..........
However, i really don't get it? i mean seriously why is everyone obsessed with weight? Please don't misunderstand me, i don't mean their own weight, i mean everyone else's in the free freaking world??!! How many times a week do i come on to this site and see another post about "those damned fat people"?! Why??!!
The only thing i can rationally  figure out is that the people who are "not fat" are somehow afraid we are going to rub off on them?? Is that it??? Or are You afraid we are going to completely lose control and eat You?? i'm really being serious here...
i understand that when i read these threads and walk away offended and hurt at how people (who most of which don't even know me) would judge me, that's my issue...But, i just can not wrap my mind around what they fuck You get out of it? Is it just the whole "ooohhh!! i'm so much better than him or her cause i only weigh a buck oh five bullshit?" Because seriously, that got old for me about ten years ago!!!
More than likely this is the first, last, and only time i will get this real or this honest on a thread on here.... Twelve years ago or so i weighed 140... i thought i was fat, i had always been told i was fat, blah blah blah blah blah...Then i developed this disease...The disease rocked in my opinion...i could lose 8 pounds in a day...heh...The doctor told me at one point (on a Friday) that i was to go out find all the junk food i liked and eat it all, all weekend...Because if i came back on Monday and had lost anymore weight he was going to have to admit me to the hospital.....Well, after they removed my thyroid that all stopped...However, no one in their infinite wisdom saw fit to give me any replacement medications...Not until i gained about 150 pounds......So, now here i set waaaayyy obese, oh yeah, and i have a metabolic disorder....So, the surgeries the "quick fixes" are not even options for me...Especially the lap band one, because eating too much food is not my issue at all....
i eat less than my friend whom i currently live with who's a size fucking 2..... And i walk 2 miles everyday..And i drink tons of water...
i know that..i know i'm doing everything humanly possible to do what i need to do...However, do You think that it makes me feel any better when i see the look people give me when i go into the grocery store??!! Or god forbid a restaurant??!! And don't even get my started on clothes shopping!!!
i just really think there has to be more important things out there that we can focus on besides tearing people down because of the way they look....

....obesity has become an issue for many Western countries. The causes are not fully understood, or if they are, not well communicated. That which we don't understand can, for many, become a source of fascination. Hence the focus on the issue. While there are arseholes out there who like to belittle those they think wont smack 'em in the mouth, i think the majority of people focus on the issue due to a need to understand why, in a world full of starving people, the West has got to the point where we talk about an 'obesity epidemic'.

Welcome to the USA. I have lived in 6 countries on 4 continents and am about to add a 7th. I have not run into this to any great degree/no degree outside of the USA where I was born and raised and lived until I was 36. I recently returned briefly, until August 2008 and very quickly it was slammed into my head again how obsessive this country is with weight and with treating those who do not match the standard shabbily at best and physically damaging at worst. I have never been treated so badly anywhere else. I always said........if one has heart and brains but is overweight, they dont exist. But if one has the ''bod'' no heart and is clueless, she is admired.

.....yup, i understand. Sometimes the only thing to do is have a good vent. That's one of the functions of these fora.......next time someone gives you a hard time, just imagine them, naked, sliding down a razor sharp bannister into a vat of bengay......it may not change reality much, but at least they'll be wondering why you're laughing

Well, then You apparently misread my op...My question wasn't "What else can we focus on" it was WHY THE FUCK ARE WE SO OBSESSED WITH WEIGHT.

*Sadly off on yet another tangent i'm afraid*

Here's something esle i don't comprehend.... Many medical professionals will tell you the best long term weight loss solution is to follow a program such as weight watchers....However, will my insurance cover it? No.... So, then (in the past) i was left to make my own good food decisions.... {Which is about to prove my theory that people who state we all know how to eat well are full of shit} which would be chicken and rice...Only...Because those were the only two healthy foods i knew... And then there's the whole concept of the doctor telling You to exercise...But will an insurance company assist you in paying for that? No...Despite the fact that in the end it would probably highly reduce their premiums......
*Laughing now* Oddly, enough my doctor doesn't say any of these things to me anymore..She asks me how many times a day i'm eating and how much i'm walking...

i cannot say i understand the logic behind it, other than perhaps needing to feel superior?  Shows a serious lack of something within those people dismissing someone based solely on weight.  i do not know whether to feel sorry for their own short sightedness, or smack the shit out of them in the hopes that they can view the world in a way other than through their own narrow little minds.

Hell, i've been thick, thin, huge, skeletal, curvy, somewhere in between, and just about everything you can think of, and through the changes, i have always been... me.

Men seem to get angry at women for not being what they want.

People seem less critical of overweight men, I think.

Yesterday, I was reading the news and I found that some moron in Jackson, Mississippi. Thinks he can get a bill passed that would ban Obese people from going into restaurants. I would give anything for 15 minutes alone with this idiot. I'd even put on my combat boots.

I know exactly what you're going through.  I also have hypothyroidism though not as a result of treatment for hyperthyroidism.  Like you, I was once much smaller, weighing in between 95 and 105.  Now I can't stand the sight of my own body.  People seem pretty much incapable of understanding that one actually CAN eat very little and gain massive amounts of weight.  Until I developed thyroid problems, I was NEVER, EVER overweight.  I find it inexcusable that your doc(s) didn't give you replacement thyroid hormones after your thyroidectomy, as it is well known that treatment for hyperthyroidism always leaves the patient hypothyroid.  Have you filed any complaints against him/her/them?

One of the strangest things I have found is  I am truly not an eater ...  problem with  that is at times I  may go for a week or so  before anything really  appeals to me.  Sometimes when I try to  eat I feel like the kid looking at brussle sprouts still sitting at the table two hours later with the same amount. The over all caused by this is weight gain, loss of hair, brittle nails, and organ damage. Not a disorder just dont care for food, I  get the same crap  all the time ... I just really try to remember the ones being asses will all find the circle of  you  get what  you  give. But yeah sometimes I would like to  be around when they  got it. LOL  my friends laugh ... I really try to  work on eating  butttttttt since I dont  I keep containers of whole grain cereals and raisins EVERYWHERE I might sit down for a time Seems to  be helping ...  lol and frozen water bottles

Kali my friend.  Remember what I said here.  Print it out and tape it to your bathroom mirror.

Just show them your sword and the severed head you carry.  Be strong, be proud.

Actually, the story plainly stated he was not expecting the ban to pass, but to raise awareness of a serious issue gripping his state. I guess you didn't read that far down though (second sentence in most sources I've seen).
