So, today I noticed this collection of articles, which include the following quotes-

"A health expert yesterday condemned Britain's second-biggest supermarket chain, Asda, after the company announced it is to stock size-zero clothes."

Say what? People want stocking a size to be banned?

0 is a size that cannot be achieved naturally?

Some people are physicists. Some people are atheletes. Some people are opera singers. And some people really truly are zeros.

Come on. Complaining the size is even stocked in a retail chain is a real WTF.

people need something to complain about and weight is easy because it's obvious, and race and sexual orientation are taboo in this time period. it's easier to blame hollywood than blame wider society and cause all of our norms to change, one way or the other.

One manufacturer's "0" is anothers "4".
A "0" is really just a med to large child's relabelled (and let's face it, the way some kids dress these days there's no difference between kids clothes and what the gals on the strip are wearing).
When you're of asian origin -  where anthropomorphically folks are just generally more petite than westerners, a "0" is not at all unrealistic. I think it's just that for most westerners - with a hefty dose of saxon, or viking, or frankish blood in them for example, fitting into a size "0" is pretty unattainable without taking drastic measures.

I think the complaint is absurd. There are plenty of normal size 0s out there. The occaisional skinny adult woman. 16 yr old caucasians- they're not going to wear children's clothing. Asian women too. In fact, the *average* woman in vietnam can fit a size 0.

Who complains about someone else's size existing in a store because it somehow intimidates them by existing?

I should complain that expensive clothing be removed because it makes me feel poor or something.

And while I'm at it, I want all 'mythic' 6 ft tall woman banned from prominent places in the media because that makes me want to buy 5 inch heels and it ruins my bones and feet.

Blame others for existing, I say!

i plan on being a 0 this summer...only have 15 lbs to lose to get there.  diet and exercise.  i was 125 lbs in 2004 after losing 70+ as i was 196 lbs in 98-99.
i also plan on getting a tramp stamp on my lower back...when i achieve this weight.  ive never been 120 lbs since my teens.

As someone who used be a size 0 naturally, I find it quite annoying all the people who hate it. It's not my fauly I was build so small. I shouldn't have to gain 20 pounds to fit into clothes.

I can however, understand the hate that one brand's size 0, is another's 4, that irks me.

It is wrong to hate on people who are skinny and beautiful and young just as much as it is to hate on anyone else.

I can see peoples concern in continued downsizing of clothes sizes in generally, thus making prior "normal" sizes seem huge in comparison.  Considering the fashion industry follows the mainstreaming of sizes, it can and may become even harder for anyone above very petite to get really kick ass trendy nice clothes that fit well on their body.

It's already really hard to find that for any size over 14.

Not to mention the reaction on people to think they NEED to be that size in order to be trendy or accepted.

None of this is anyone who happens to just be skinny and beautiful and young though and it would be good of everyone to remember that.

places like gap and old navy changed their sizing in 2007.  now all their sz 4's(my actual current size) are 0's and ultra tight with longer lengths.  i used to be able to go to these stores...pick out any shirt or sweater i wanted without trying them on..and they would fit perfect.  now...forget it....they have also stopped selling velvet type jeans...why is that?? i love my green velvet jeans that i bought at gap..they were only $25 too.

I think it's more with hating "Unhealty" than hating the a size. To skinny is unhealthy and to big is unhealthy. Both just stand out of the crowd. and viewed as "ewww" by the majority.

Victoria Secret want's moving hangers to wear there clothes. I don't hate Victoria though. She's just not my type. Lane Bryant on the other hand;  [:)]

i could starve myself for a year and i'd not be a size zero, but then again i'm norwegian/german so i'm not built small even when i'm at my thinnest.  people are built differently and that's okay, i'm not sure what the big deal is here or why it is a cause for hate or ridicule by some people.

I think that tk is on the right path. me being a guy and all offers me a diferent view of things.
Todays size (_2___) is not yester-years size (_2___)
If you wear a size 30 waist and (__) in hips then you wear a 30 waist and (__) hips.
Double and triple zero only came about because of severely thin people and also because some women can't understand that You may wear a size 4 now but in a few years age catches up with you and your 4 is now a 6 or [:o] a 8.  Be realalistic with yourselves.

I have no problem with women being size 0 if they so wish.
I reserve my right to say it is not natural for most and looks unattractive to me.
 
Yes I'm fugly too, but I didnt try to make myself that way.

I don’t have any negative feelings about the thin among us.  What I do hate is the concept of a non-existent size.  Everybody has a size for god’s sake!  It is a twisted and damaging notion that it is a good thing to be a nothing.

My neighbor is a size 0.   She eats like a horse.  Doesn't exercise.   And her only medical problems are that she had most of her bones crushed or broken in a car accident when she was 19 (she is 43 now).   she doesn't throw up except when sick or ate something bad.   So what is the problem?  Oh   she isn't fat like me.   So we have to pick on her because she is skinny?

Even when I was at my thinnest in high school at about 102 pounds I still wasn't a 0.  I'm just not built like that.  I have broad shoulders and no waist definition.  My sister, on the other hand is a natural 0.  She's a teeny tiny thing and believe me there's no eating disorder at all other than healthy eating.  I don't ever get bothered by sizing that companies use other than the annoyance of having to try on things to see the fit.  Jeans are the hardest for me since the legs are always too long and there's not a lot of choices in petite inseams.
I can rant on the cut of jeans though and that awful phase of wide legged jeans.  They look bad on petite people and for a time they were all you could find in stores.  I'm a slim legged jeans kinda gal.  They make me look taller if that's at all possible.
