OMG benny, "miss diane" and his hats,  , hahahahah I had forgotton about that...my mum was a rabid watcher and we either sat and watched as quiet as mice or were banished to the bedroom
Cherry jubblies and orange ones, used to get one from the sweet shop near school and walk home sucking on the damn things, by the time we got home it was just a mishapen block of ice, all the juice sucked clear out......yummmm any spare penny I had went on blackjacks:)
Yes to Hectors house and camberwick green, lol Tiswas ..I think my sisters were into that more than me, but do you remember "spit" the dog and "cough" the cat?

my old man wouldnt let us have long hair(he wanted boys)  until we were in our teens..I think purdey was the first "girly cut" I had.
Thats probably why I have hair down to my ass now, lol.

I remember various geek things such as acoustic couplers, SLIP modems being the only real option, and obviously modems being measured in baud. Oh, and I remember being excited beyond all belief about wolfenstein 3d.

The only notable thing? I remember gas being under a dollar a gallon. Other than that, I'm too young to compare.

I remember when it still snowed in Tennessee.

I remember the snow storm of Jan. 2003 OMG..cars on the side of the road..for miles..people venturing out of their homes to give the stranded coffee and hot coco. I had two cars slide into my own yard. Bad time.

I also remember the tornado that touched down in downtown Nashville, the spring of 1998 I lived in Bethpage TN.

Jan 2003???   That was an ice storm and not much of one at that.    I remember 16 inches of snow in 1993, they called out the National Gaurd for that one.

I also remember never having a Valentines Day dance in highschool (mid-1980's).   They were snowed out 4 years in a row.

I also remember being out for snow ALL of January and MOST of February in 5th grade.  (Late 1970's)

Heck, there were many years where we trick or treated in the snow.   When was the last time Tennessee saw a snow in October?

We haven't gotten crap for snow since 1993.  When I was growing up, we ALWAYS had at least one entire week off due to snow.   I can't remember when Knoxville schools were out for a week since 1993 and now they call off school just because they're predicting snow.  (I wish I had been so lucky.)

I also remember SCUBA diving vast fields of colorful acropora corals off Florida in the 1980's.  Many of them remain, but the vast majority of the fields are white and dead.

Here's a link addressing one of the more prominant species of acropora if you want verification of my story:
http://www.nmfs.noaa.gov/pr/species/invertebrates/elkhorncoral.htm

My UM won't be old enough to dive for several years, but he has seen photos of the old fields and I will show him what they look like today.

I remember my first computer, it was a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A.  My dad brought it home, and we hooked it up to the television right next to our Atari 2600.  I remeber being jealous of my friend, because he had a Colecovision.  I remember spending every Friday night in a arcade spending all my allowance.  I remember when there were cigarette machines in every building, and it only cost 1.25 for a pack.  I remember when no one wore helmets to ride bicycles.  I remember that the Incredible Hulk came on right before the Dukes of Hazzard on CBS.  I remember BJ McKay and his best friend Bear (now the song is playing in my head.)  I remember seeing Smokey and the Bandit about 10 times.  I remember my dad hooking up a CB in our station wagon.  I remember every UHF station in every town having some sort of monster movie show on Friday nights, with some local guy dressed up like a vampire hosting.

Ahhh... well then,  here you are.

Anyone else remember the original National Lampoon?  A lot sharper than the Chevy Chase movies or even Animal House, it would probably be sued out of existence today.

In Massachusetts we had a snow week off of school in 1961 and 1969.
Plenty of times with 2 or 3 days off though.
And how many of you can remember Howdy Doody, Major Mudd and Arthur Godfrey on t.v.?
