Zensee, do you mean Minstrels? The outer candy shell was quite hard while the inside was a nice, smooth chocolate? I can't recall them ever having a caramel layer though.

It's all about chocolate today! I remember the infamous Milk Tray ads - when I was a kid Milk Tray also produced a large chocolate bar version!

I also remember an old Clarks Shoes ad, which had us kids all wanting a pair.

Then there was Leonard Rossiter and Joan Collins in the Bacardi ads lol

I remember when you could actually see stars about anywhere when you looked into a darkened sky... When I  moved to the country was when I rekindled my love for the night sky ... I could see the stars again

As mentioned before I was in the US 45 odd years ago and I can clearly remember the jingle but not the words for a radio station that was always "on" in the diner where I used to eat.
WJJD in Chicago.
Havent thought about that in years. Is my memory accurate? Anybody know ?

Also Long John Nebel and Jean Shepard (male)  on WOR in New York
I'm positive I'm right with these two.Am I ?

Anyone remember the Doctor Dimento Show?

http://www.drdemento.com/

I remember Pop Rock very well, my Dad worked for General Foods, and we got them about a year before they hit the market. I used to bring them to grade school and sell them for a buck a pack

I remember when WGN wasn't a "superstation" and actually went off the air, except fridays & saturdays. Fridays were awesome, they usually showed shows like "Victory @ Sea", "Sea Hunt with Lloyd Bridges", and a B caliber horror movie.
I remember "Creature Features", and my Uncle George waking us up at 1am to watch the films whenever we stayed the night there.
I remember the controversy surrounding "The Exorcist" & "Rosemary's Baby"
I remember getting picked up by "Chicago's Finest" for being a menace & instead of them taking you to the station, they brought you to the Union Stockyards, kicked you in the ass, and made you walk home (about a mile)
I remember Vice Principle's had wooden paddles with holes drilled in them to reduce drag when they spanked you.
I remember playing football right in the street, and none of the neighbors caring if you broke an antenna, or dented their car.
I remember when AC Dc & Van Halen were opening acts
I remember AMC Gremlin's, Pacer's, & Javelin automobiles
I remember my first car was a 67 Nash Rambler. Damn I miss that car.

LOVED King Biscuit!!

You need to get over to Wolfgang's Vault.

Turns out Bill Graham was recording almost all the acts playing at his venues, and now they're monetizing the collection ( which I've mixed feelings on, but they're doing it in a classy way.... )

One of the things they have is... KING BISCUIT RADIO!

Children didn't have sex? Given the stories of the "good old days" I've heard and read, that would be way back..........never.

Oh they had sex, it just wasn't ever acknowledged b/c girls that became pregnant were sent to stay with an aunt (if they could afford that option) until the baby had been born, then it was given up for adoption. The attitude was if it wasn't acknowledged it didn't happen - and it then makes one think that relatively little changes in some respects.

Speaking of diners......those little mini-jukeboxes right at your table, made of metal, and you flipped back and forth through the pages by pushing the little metal tabs that stuck out the top.....3 songs for a dime.....punch the buttons!

Toffee Treets! Thanks, Polite and MissMorrigan. Apparently they were pushed out by Smarties (a curse upon Nestle to the seventh generation for turning all those lovely Rowntree chocs into waxy, greasy guk). The chocolate ones were renamed Minstrels.

Z.

Lucy! Oh my god! I can't believe you remember jubblies lol I used to love those as a kid and as the flavour was sucked out of each corner we'd have to turn it around, for 10p it kept us amused for ages... if we were really rich we'd get a 'screwball' from the icecream man.

As for Crossroads. My mum had a black poodle called Dandy and he loved Crossroads so much he'd get on his hind legs and howl throughout the opening music. Even if it was whistled to him he'd do the same thing - that dog was funked, I'm telling you, it used to shit UP trees!  I was only exposed to Crossroads a handful of times, enough to have been mentally scarred by Benny and his woolly hat, and his crush on Miss Diane!

I also remember Hector's House, Camberwick Green and Tiswas.

What about fashion? When I was ten the fashion was those birds' nest hairdos! I remember having one done as I was going to a wedding, it had been cut/styled that morning (I must have looked like a female version of Friar Tuck!), I was neatly dressed and walking towards the church with my family when I got crapped upon from a great height by a group of pidgeons! All over my hair and clothes lol
