I run across the occasional profile where the person says they don't want a boyfriend or girlfriend, just a harsh, strict owner.

Do you think they really mean it?

Why?

And are willing to wait, and uproot thier entire lives to get into a serious relationship with that kind? They didn't seem casual to me.

Why would they not mean it?

Some people want romance; some don't. It's not my place to try and guess the why's of it; nor would I care to.

Dunno, just made me curious. Especially in a place where people seem to think D/s is all romance and flowers.

Personally when I see that type of situation I think of military drill sargents. they are harsh pain in the ass son's of bitches not because they don't care about you but because they are trying to get you ready and prepared to fight for your life. think the team captain or the job foreman, they are not there to love you and be all squishy. they are there to get the job done. Your service to them is to aid in that. their control over you is to maximize efficiency.
That is how it makes sense in my head. you submit to someone because you trust they will lead you through the situation.

"to be part of something bigger then themselves "is the best answer to Why I've come up with.

if its not a fake profile then yes I think they really mean it. is it enough to meet there emotional needs? that is a different discussion all together.

the Obligatory: YMMV, and IMHO, OWTLAT and even a ROFLMAO do apply.

Cheers
Skully

I get the feeling that they are pretty real. Of course I may be way off base. But the drill sargeant analogy did come to mind. Maybe they see D/s as about performance, rather than romantic?

And have an expectation of being held accountable-instead of being allowed to be wishy washy-if they cry?

I think you are od'ing on Valentines Day.

Why does anyone seek what they seek?  Because they want fulfillment.  Because it makes them feel good.

I admit to being a bit queasy from the saccharine overdose.

It is not impossible. There are those whose desire it is to be little more than an object to their masters....to be very much a household plaything. I do not pretend to understand such desires; I merely have observed their existence.

I think that quite possible, but what if the owner expects more of them?

Yep.  But it is a good day for those in the candy peddling and rose selling biz.

My girl is My possession NOT My "girlfriend", does that mean I don't care about her... hell no, I wouldn't put in the time or effort that I do for someone I didn't care about, but We are what We are and don't need the fluffy vanilla trappings in order to be together.

Then the two are rather mismatched, and the relationship will either take some very interesting turns, or it will come to a close.

A slave looking for love should not seek a loveless master, and vice versa.

I was probably not being clear enough.

Expects her to be more than a fuck toy.

I think this is more along the lines of my query-thank you Raven.

What Jeffff said. I have a couple of friends like that. It is just a matter of respecting their wishes. Why delve deeper than that.

Because I like expanding my consciousness.

The way some people feel safer in a little box.
