Just so you know, British and French troopers are fighting and dying in Afghanistan along side of us.They`re filling body-bags and leaving grieving families behind as we are.

Oh yes I do agree with you and it all the more infuriates me to hear their brethren at home belittle their dedication. And even worse blame it on the US instead of where it belongs... with their own government.

If they want to bitch…bitch at their leaders and leave us the hell alone. But the next time they need help I say … tell them to look to the French.

I do want you to have a good… safe… happy… life, but other than that I care nothing of your ideas on how my country or I should act.

Well I guess some people in Iran feel concern about the elections in usa and how your country should act :p

More seriously, I think it is legitimate for people from all around the world to have wishes about the outcome of this election, your country is the more influent in the world, the least international decision your government takes has a great impact on the global economy...how could we not feel the need to give our opinions? ;)

You, or Iran, have nothing to fear from our election one way or another. You are protected by the United Nations

PS... the people of Iran should be worried about the actions of their leaders...not mine.

Yes... because the UN has a magical shield over all the countries that protects them and all those who live there from all nukes, germ warfare, atomic bombs and plain ol' bullets.

Face it, in this day and age of weapons, we should all be at least somewhat interested in what happens in other countries.

Hi AguaticSub

When I say isolationist I mean we should not be the world’s policemen. I don’t mean stick our heads in the sand.

I want us to know what is going on and remain strong but mind our own people and business first.

I was being facetious about the useless UN.

Perhaps you weren't aware of the fact that I am an asshole frog after all :-). And if you were, and you were impolite purposedly, it makes you doubly uninteresting.

Why not give up on playground bullying tactiques and concentrate on Sinergy's post? He had a lot of very interesting things to say.

I don't care about your particular nationality, Kitten.  I'll also tell a Domme joke in a room full.

As for Sinergy's "interesting things to say," I found his gross stereotyping of the Islamic world as death-fanatics a bit over the top.  He's also been known to pretend not to get something to derail a point he knows to be true.  Wouldn't a highly trained martial arts instructor completely understand the difference between the actual use of violence and the value of a valid threat?

That is not what I said.

I could explain the difference between what I said and what you interpreted it to mean, but your acerbic and stereotypical response makes me doubt your mind could comprehend the distinction.

Fair enough. But we`ll get more bees with honey, than with vinegar.

I'll have to admit I am a little sour tonight...I have been hard on the British and French. For 60 years we have protected Europe at a massive cost  and sacrifice of our country and people. While we have needed to keep a huge standing army all over the world to protect them…they were able to rebuild their infrastructures and provide medical insurance to their people.

While they bask in our protection we struggle to pay our taxes.

If we had been isolationist and spent that money on our own people we would be much better off as a country.

But being the good people we are… and feeling some allegiance to the countries of our origins… we reached out to help.  Yes we have made many mistakes but with the best of intentions.

Look and listen to the thanks we get.

PS just to keep this post on subject...Obama is the best candidate along with the black vote to solve these problems.

While I agree with this in a sense, part of me thinks that if Walmart, et al, decreed that we should remove our troops from Germany, Afghanistan, Iraq, England, France, Okinawa, etc., our troops would be on the next plane out.

We struggle to pay our taxes because our Government is sacrificing the interests of our people in favor of the interests of multinational corporations.  We used to make things in the US.  Now we import them from China, call India when they dont work, and fax the results to each other.

You have a point.  When elections are held in Germany, England, France, Pakistan, wherever ... it is on the American news and I do pay attention, trying to figure out how the parties running and in power correspond to politics as I know it in the US (to make it relateable).  But I don't pretend to know a lot about why the French are happy with / or pissed off about (depending on what you read) their new leader.  I don't live in the country and I, as yet, have not seen how he will make a global impact.

So to judge someone from primaries and to extrapolate from their campaigns how they will make decisions is a very very tricky thing - especially when you aren't even a citizen of that country.  So to make a sweeping statement that "yes, the world is hoping for Obama"- I have to wonder what that is based upon.  I understand the world is looking for a change, and most of our country is too, I think, but it remains up to the US to elect the person they feel is right for our country - because lots of us here hope the leader starts worrying more about the home turf and less about foreign affairs (at least, to the extent he is able to).

Hope this makes sense.  I've taken my sleeping pill already and may be a wee bit less than coherent.  lol

Hillary is going to have to throw a few bombs around before she is taken seriously by a lot of the world that is more Chauvanistic than the West.   Appealing to he is being mean to me, won't work at all on the world stage, despite it gettting votes with American White Women.  She will be having to go into a room with Putin and no cameras, is she going to act scared that he approaches her with a piece of paper?  It worked to get here elected to the Senate, but.....

Barak would probably have a much stronger image ot the world, for sterotype reasons.  He's no Idi Amin, but that's more than needed.  I think he would be able to pull off the threat of violence with no problem.  Again, think of him and Putin in a room with no press....

Barak would be no better.
He's just another college boy.
Why do people running for office feel the need to tell us how well they did while they were in school 25 years ago?
I mean what relevency does that have to the job being sought?
A Truckdriver can run for congress or the senate or even the presidency.
I'd prefer someone with at least some military experience over someone who graduated "Cum Laude" from some ivey league degree factory.
Or someone who's run a business and had to meet payrolls.
I want a good "Manager" not someone who has grandiose dreams of being a "leader". Who do they think is going to "follow" them? That's not part of the job description.
And I don't want a president who holds 16 "press conferences" a day like Clinton did! You couldn't turn on the News without seeing his ugly face on it broken blood vessels on his huge proboscus from snorting cocaine with Bono.
I don't want to see the president on the News, that means he's shooting off his yap instead of working.
That's the problem with Washington, there's way too many lawyers there!
Let me guess, Barak went to *law school*, right?
Sorry but I just can't vote for a lawyer.

P.S. we're electing someone as our president to manage *our* country, not foreign countries!
OK, that was my "Andy Rooney" post.

More importantly. Obama didn't pay his dues yet.

He's a freshman who got lucky when Jack Ryan's campaign imploded. Lucky Freshmen don't get to be President.

He got a great opportunity to get free PR this time around, as long as he Plays Ball. He'll *just* lose to Hilary at the Convention, and that'll force a McCain win -- 4 more years of Business as Usual -- While continuing to string along the suckers who think that Voting has any connection to who gets selected...

Some are pissed at him, because he's boffing a model.

PARIS — French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Tuesday his relationship with model-turned-singer Carla Bruni is "serious," and he suggested that wedding plans are in the works.
Some analysts also say that Sarkozy's flaunting of his private life is a turnoff for many voters, especially more traditional ones.

I cant work out whether youre just being an annoying twattock over this or whether you truly think that any of the guff youre spouting is true or worth spouting.

We can get along quite nicely by ourselves thanks - we've long experience of getting embroiled in foreign wars where we lose lots of dead and injured for no significant benefit - so we hardly need you to help out on that count.

Tell you what, you can all fuck off out of our listening stations in the UK and worldwide and we'll call it a day on cooperation, alright? Good luck detecting those fabled N Korean and Iranian nukes coming your way....

We had to rebuild our own country - geddit? We had to pay you lot for the war aid we had, and which cash you then passed on to those people who formerly thought that gassing people en masse made for a marvellous pastime, and the others who surrendered so readily.

We have healthcare etc because we pay USD 10-00 a gallon for petrol, because we pay USD 10-00 for a pack of cigarettes and because we pay much higher income taxes, sales taxes etc. Do not think for a moment you had to pay for any of it or went without to build it - we built it ourselves whilst we were also paying to build the same in Germany etc

For fuck's sake, this bankrupted the Empire - you do know about that yes? 1/5 of the world...... Britain a world power...... oh never mind. Anyway - suffice to say most of the world map used to be a light red colour, but the expense of paying to rebuild Europe and rebuild ourselves was just to much to keep the old place going.

There was a fascinating piece about Afghanistan the other day. Some US patrol had got caught in the dark and shot to bits. The US helicopters wouldnt go out - flying at night is banned, but the UK team heard the message too and went without a word to find these guys in pitch darkness in -10 celsius. They picked them up and got them to the hospital - one died but the other two were saved - left to your own people, they'd all have bled to death before dawn.

You know, I really wouldnt mind it so much, if you were making your points based on the facts.......... the absence of the latter renders the former the work of an ignoramus or a malicious twattock. Which is it? Do tell?

E

kd - Just imagine America had stayed out of the war and let the Germans win it... They'd have conquered Russia, securing oil, gas and other resources and they'd have beaten everyone to the atom bomb. What a lovely world that would be.

Leaving side the unequal relationship over technology (Britain gives you the jet engine, but you somehow mislay the nuclear plans the day the PM comes to call!) - you have to consider the billions paid to the US over the last 60 years.  Congress actually refused to bail the UK economy out on two occasions and finally changed course only with levels of interest which can hardly be considered "friendly".  The country literally would have gone into famine but Congress didn't want to know.  Fair enough, a deal was eventually struck, no grumbles - but leave the revisionism out of it.

yes, the ones that you read about in the yellow press, who, having no reason, strap bombs on their ass and walk into our soldiers who occupy and make their country worse, day by day.

http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory?id=4226818

Or the ones who strap bombs on the mentally disabled and send them into civilian markets.

And how often did this occur during the Saddam Hussein regime?   Additionally, how often did this happen before we threw their country in an uproar?

You cant expect that you go invade a country out of the blue under false pretenses calling it terrorism fighting and not get underground and resistance activity.

FR -

Do people really consider the ability - or inclination - to "get ghetto" is a serious question to level at any elected official? Or any senior business figure, educator, whatever?

Oh well, I suppose the desire to do so has made Oprah a billionaire but I thought that was just entertainment, to turn a buck. I really didn't think people seriously thought that was anything to do with the melanin content of someone's skin and how it might play in a situation involving the welfare of millions.  What a shame that the chance to rise above a terrible past is being refused by some.  I wonder if the ex-CEO's of Merrill Lynch and Time Warner "got ghetto" when they were in tough meetings.  You know, slipped off their doo-rags, put down their 40's and kicked dem a piece o' cracker ass?

Honestly, the things I'll stoop to post about when things are quiet. Oh well.
