ORIGINAL: TheHeretic (Yes, I'm aware that I'm using an unfair and possibly offensive stereotype in how I choose to ask the question. Feel free to substitute an alternate metaphor, but Obama and his supporters are going to have deal with with worse than this over the campaign. Consider it a training exercise.) Beyond the economy, beyond our troops in Iraq, the next person to sit in the Oval Office will also be dealing with the threat of the Islamic Crazy People. IMO, the only way to address that is from a position of strength. We need a President those people will fear just a bit more than they hate, someone who can look them right in the eye when the car bombs go off. A President needs something that radiates "don't go there." They need a scary side, sometimes, that won't back down. Nixon had it and used it on domestic 'enemies' as well as foreign ones. Eisenhower had so much of it he spent his terms playing golf. Reagan had it with the USSR. Bush I faked it. Clinton I(?) prefered to be a smiling, good-ol'-boy appeaser, but he did park a bomb on the Chinese embassy when required. What we don't need is another Carter. I'm still looking at the current crop. McCain has flashed his a few times over the years. Hillary seems quite capable of going completely psycho as required (though I wonder sometimes). I was really hoping for Giuliani. After mafia dons and NYC unions, he could stare anybody down. What about Barak Obama? Is there something there that will make the ICP say "oh shit?" I keep thinking of Spike Lee's Bamboozled. Could Barak get all ghetto on your ass if he had to? Crack his neck and say, "Oh no you di'n't, muthahfuckah!" before doing a drive-by on your mama's house? Can he be the craziest person in the room? The very last person on the planet you want to piss off? The candidate that could/would create the most fear in others, in my opinion, would be McCain. But, I don't know that is what we need, necessarily. As long as our president will use force, if needed, that's the main thing, and I believe all 4 remaining candidates would do so. The jihadists will never run out of those willing to do whatever they see as their "duty", and fear won't help, there. I mean, if they aren't afraid of President Bush, then who will scare them?
