Hmmmm... rolled on a nubile young virgin's thighs...

PS: forget the above, and replace it with: "Rolled between a nubile young virgin's thighs."

Fidel is a legend and I think he'll be remembered less for his shortcomings than for affecting an epochal shift in the fortunes of the victims of Imperialism.

And unlike Bush or Blair, he has no Swiss bank account.

Probably not, but I wouldn't be quite as certain as you :-) .

Aw, man. Go on tell me, what have you heard?

Anyway, it doesn't detract from his achievement in rejecting foreign interference and building the foundations of a change in consciousness which will outlive us, just as he outlived ten presidents.

For informational purposes only:

Castro denies huge fortune claim

Cuban President Fidel Castro has dismissed as "absurd" and "malicious" a US magazine report saying he had amassed a personal fortune of$900m.

Mr Castro said the estimate, published in Forbes magazine, was part of a US campaign to discredit him.

He said if anyone found evidence that he had even "a single dollar" in a foreign bank account, he would resign.

Like I said... anything but an idiot.

PS: it's all hearsay. Still, it's worth considering, RealityLicks. I know, I know it kind of kills the myth, but myths are made for that.

He rules with such an iron fist, it would hardly seem necessary to hide - if there were anything to hide.  If the CIA were after me, I'd be cagey, too.  Remember what happened to Aristide? And to Bishop in Grenada? And to however many Latin American and Caribbean leaders Washington couldn't buy?

But now Chile stands taller and in part that is due to Fidel.

Perhaps the USA would have prefered to have a Pinochet ruling Cuba. It strikes me as odd that even today, people are trying to drag Castro into the pit with Stalin and Hitler.

The article claims that Fidel,at 900m, is richer than the Queen of England who has billions in real estate.  Now there is a real knee slapper.
As for those who think he has a ton of money squirreled away think back and see if you can remember ever seeing him in a $2000 suit or riding in a stretch limo.  If one were to look at his lifestyle the big stash of money just does not seem to make any sense.  He has no heirs so who would he leave it to?
All I see is sour grapes.
Here is a man who has dedicated his life to the Cuban people.  I would challenge anyone to name anyone who has done more for Cuba in the past 500 years.

Because he deserves to be. What? He didn’t kill as many people as Stalin and Hitler and so that makes him not so bad. It sickens me, absolutely sickens me, to see people praising this murdering, torturing, dictator. Oh, that’s right, he stood up to the U.S. so that makes it okay. What a crock of shit. I try to dampen down my more negative impulses, try to listen to the better angels of my nature but in the case of Castro it’s easy to let go and wish him a long, lingering, painful death followed by a spot in Hell right next to Che Guevara.

I hear your hatred for Castro, Marc. Why don't you tell us where it stems from, and how it has developed?

Marc2b:
I have asked you on several occasions to back up this jingoistic rhetoric but to no avail.  Whom has Fidel murdered?
As for the "better angels of your nature" they have gone on strike until you disabuse yourself of your self imposed ignorance of the facts.
Common' Marc I know you are smart enough to disentangle the lies and propaganda of the government from the facts and reality of life in Cuba.
Now if you would like to talk about murdering assholes lets look at the list of American presidents who presided over the wholesale genocide of the Native American.

Because he is a murdering, torturing dictator. Yet, because he spouts rhetoric that is pleasing to the Left’s ears, he is excused. And before anybody jumps on my ass about right wing dictators I have no more love for them or respect for Right wing kooks who excuse murdering torturing dictators like Pinochet.

FUCK THEM ALL !!!!!

Just look how everyone worships Hugo Chavez today... people think he's a god while he systematically dismantles democracy and freedom in Venezuela. He throws people in jail if they criticize him or the government. The media is owned and operated by the government. And he controls every part of that government. But all that is OK. He gets a pass on all that... why? Because he can stand up to America!

So go on...go hug Fidel. Go kiss Hugo and Amadenijad and Kim Jong Ill too... but just remember these thugs will not hesitate in the least to strip your freedom and throw you in jail for your beliefs if they had the chance. These are not freedom fighters. They are not heros for the working class. They are dictators leading totalitarian regimes.

Wake up!
