OK I pose this poll to open eyes of the public.
My own opinion is to allow everyone minus the convicted felons to carry as you will.

My reason: If we all carried a gun then more and more people would be polite, considerate and patient. Because if you decided to say or do something that another person finds obtuse or disrespectful then, they may just shoot you. If you are driving and cut someone off, they may shoot you.

Better: You are at a bank and it is being held up by 1-3 people. You could shoot them and be considered a hero for saving money of the bank.

Please tell me why you think the way you do.

Yes, with a permit. And that's how it is here in Texas now.

If they outlaw guns, only outlaws will carry guns.

that being said, I think that there should be a balistics regestry... JPEGs of the grooves, along with serial number, and personal information of the registered owner.

Well you did not really have a choice for me. I have no problem with people owning guns, however it is too easy. Too many people that think they should own them, own guns it is inappropriate for the public to have, people that think they are the "special" ones that should be allowed to carry them, can too easily do so.

I think more back ground checking and psycological testing should be required. In addition, I think there should be requirements on gun and ammunition storage, especially in homes with children.

I am strongly against vigilante justice which is the underlying current I feel you are trying to convey.

I am not trying to convey the vigaliantie type of justice.
But I am trying to open a few eyes. Including my own on other peoples opinion.

I think that people would be more cautious on what they say and or do around someone who has the abilty to take matters into their own hands.

I have this thing about guns. The person who wants to take them from me is the first person I am shooting with it.

Guns are not some Blown up angry man walking concept. They are to Protect you from, Others, The Goverment, and Tyrany in many cases all three ar what you need them for.

Can Anyone guess which party I belong to?

Sorry, but there are too many people that could legally obtain a gun that would not have the self control and proper mentality, or maturity, to be responsible for having constant access to a loaded weapon that can take a human life. The very idea is absurd.

I defended the right to carry as promised in our bill of rights ,,I defended those who dont agree with this issue at the same time ,,,,I have defended it forceable many times since those years in the jungle and one conclusion I have came too is that so many who dont want usually find a reason to need to

Here is Nebraska the kids can still carry the gun to school in a gun rack shown prominently in the back window of the car.
Yet, they are not allowed to carry them on campus beyond the parking lot.

I own guns, I own a lot of guns.  So I'm a member of the NRA as well as someone who advocates owning them.
I had a concealed weapons permit in California...so you can figure out what side I'm on.

When was the last time you were at a party or a bar and two young men with too much booze and testoserone flowing their veins challenged each other to a demolition derby via automobile?

"come on asshole, my car can kick your car's ass, lets bash chrome!!"

I should absolutely be allowed to carry. As a matter of fact, something about "keep and bear" comes to mind, not "keep and maintain under lock and key"...
I purchased a handgun in New Jersey about ten years ago for the purpose of target shooting (Trust me, on the application, you never put down "Self Defense") I was subjected to a State Bureau of Investigation check, an FBI check, a records check to see if I were ever incarcerated for any mental instability and a fingerprinting. (Yes, I had to pay for my own fingerprinting, the criminal element gets their's for free)
Yeah, I should be allowed to carry. I'm not suggesting it would absolutely save me in a situation where I might need it, but at least I'd stand a chance of saving my own, and perhaps other lives...

There is an issue and I believe it is the education of fire arms. I believe that EVERYONE should have a consealed Weapons Permit (CCW) so that NO ONE knows who has a Gun I believe that YES we would get Wild West about it at first but eventually crime would lower, it will never cease but I believe nationally it would seriously lower.

I also believe that All children should be taught to use and respct guns in SCHOOL mainking it MANDATORY to learn how to protect yourself in Junior High.

Some think this is too much.

My Father put a 45 in my hands when I was five and had me pull the trigger. I STILL remember thinking "This is gunna be fun.... OUCH! This thing is NOT a TOY" and the when I was 8 he had me use a 38 on a watter mellon and I saw what a gun was capable of and never touched one unless I was hunting or felt my life or the life of those I loved were in danger.

Everyone needs to know that guns are no joke. Maybe if everyone knew and had one and carried one things that happen in Schools would be less of an occurance.

This is a sick world we live in it has been prooved time abd time again that those who should never have a gun can ALWAYS get them the playing field needs to be leveled so that this kind of thing even when it happens gives the targets a fighting chance.

As Always

We got guns, we shoot guns, and we are both pretty good shots, personally I sleep better with close access to a firearm,(we live in the boondocks), however if we lived in the city me thinks I would want it closer. There will always be fruitbasket cases that do something crazy with a gun and the media will always try to convince the masses that if guns were not allowed this would not happen, the media lies, handling a firearm just takes common sense, so many people lack that trait. So yes, I think anyone should be able (or have the right to carry) certain restrictions apply :)

OP, i don't agree with you that if everyone had a gun people would be more polite to each other, i think there would be many who would get artificially inflated over the thoughts and jump around beating their chests like orangatangs (how the fuck do you spell that? heh), and i think there would be a lot of needless deaths and injuries.

i'm looking into getting a permit for a gun and taking a gun safety class.  i want one for self defense, i'm going to be alone in the next year or so, my son who is 6'5 and built like a mack truck won't be with me forever.  i looked into just getting a chuck norris for protection, but he doesnt' seem to be available.

i don't want to necessarily walk around with a gun, but i would like to have one in my home to protect myself if i need to.  i suppose i could just keep my big cast iron skillet next to my bed for protection, but it's awfully heavy to throw across the room hehe.

Playing the devil's advocate and also following my guts feelings on this issue, I had to vote no. I do not believe that having eveyone carry a firearm will make us humans more respectful and patient. My feelings this will be another case of having another excuse for an individual to believe they can do what they want, whenever they want. My opinion on this is based upon a negative childhood experience and one I do not care to experience nor see anyone experience it too.

I carry and  have a CWP here in Florida. I as well as carry other weapon permits.  I am a life time member of the NRA and also have been a NRA instructor.I was brought up with weapons my entire life. I served my country on more than one occasion and in more than one country. I have killed others in defense of my country,as well in defense of my person of which, I did without a weapon in self defense. Each time I was forced to take someones life. I live with the fact it is the last thing they will ever do,everything they ever did or will do will end in that instant. It has made me realize just how precious life is, how foolish, stupid people are willing to die for petty mortal things. I believe we should teach each citizen from birth to be responsible of handling firearms as well as respecting the land, to become good stewards.  Edited to add: As long as others fail to respect another's property or person  there can be no such liberty of freedom without the possible use of force. Iwill also state that a person needs to show the intestinal fortitude, discipline and the where with all  to be responsible no mater whether it is  gun or  knife or other instrument.  DE OPRESSO LIBER
