MissMorrigan -> RE: This kind of thing always makes me rethink capitol punishment (2/29/2008 1:22:42 AM)

Thank you, Lady Ellen, I'd like to discuss this further and will contact you after the weekend if that's okay with you - it's my birthday on Saturday and from the next couple of hours onwards I'll be occupied with family and friends.

I personally believe there is a minority section of our community that really is out of place, where they feel, in essence, ostracised - not deliberately so, but through society's ignorance and it perplexes me with our understanding of people in general, wider acceptance etc... and yet we still have people who aren't really being catered for in our communities. It's incredibly sad. I'm going to stop hijacking this thread (before Mod 11 shafts me with her thunder staff) and look forward to emailing you.

I've long considered such a thread MsM; what puts me off is that is such a big subject, and for my ideas to work at all requires for all of them to be employed since each element functions interdependently of the rest; my agenda is not a pick and mix affair - and it soon would become that as far as the debate was concerned because (a) its too complex to deal with all at once and (b) many will not understand much of it and (c) some elements are very controversial in the current socio-political scene and likely to be seized on in isolation to try to undermine the whole.

On your other question in that post - yes, please feel free to mail me anytime.

Hitler felt the same way about the Jews, and was successful in 'eradicating' millions of them. I'm sure you'll argue he had a valid argument for doing so. If you can apply this 'rationality' to one group of persons, why not others and allow your personal bias to taint those decisions?

Morrigan- I don't want these little monsters studied and treated. I want them eradicated.

How do you know this especially when you've already stated that you aren't interested in this subject matter, so therefore, once again, it's an uninformed opinion.

One of these days you'll open your mouth so wide you'll swallow your own head as a result of vociferously proclaiming an informed opinion when it's anything but.

You've already stated you have no interest in researching this area, so yet again you're making spurious comments which are illegitimate.

We actually do agree on something, who'd have though it, eh? But then, you go and spoil that comment b/c it's invalidated by previous comments by you wherein you state you just "Dont want to know".

If living where the 'normal' people do means having to adopt your egregious ignorance, of which you seem most proud, I'd happily remain where I am b/c your normality bears no resemblance to the 'normal' people I interact with on a daily basis in my community which is made up of barristers, police officers, psychiatric nurses, financial consultants, lawyers, systems analysts, technicians, shop keepers, newspaper editors, administrators, doctors, to name but a few.

This is in alignment with your law enforcement title, Bella? [:D]

If they bring back the death penalty in England, the queue for the rope would stretch from Croydon to London. Then how would l get to work, frigging hell we are talking major disruption here people. My personal view is.....l got sat nav so maybe it's time we cleaned up the gene pool...hang em...and send the money savings we would have spent on housing the murderers for the next 20 odd years( approximately £3000 per week ) to the victims families

MissMorrigan -> RE: This kind of thing always makes me rethink capitol punishment (2/29/2008 3:15:23 AM)

Interesting concept, although the govt. would find ways in which to whittle the amounts warded down to the point they'd virtually no longer exist, not when we have fatcats giving themselves in excess of 150k per annum pay rises.

You have a great way with words, thanks for the chuckle, Adam.

I was thinking - you know how Afghanistan is sucking our armed forces dry? and you know how people in prison tend to get hooked on heroin, and how Afghanistan happens to be a great place to produce opium poppies.....

How about we buy up some plantations in Afghanistan, send the condemned out there with an AK47 and a few thousand rounds and get them to cultivate the poppies to provide us with all the opiate based drugs we'll ever need, at virtually no cost? Then Allah can sort the guilty from the not guilty when he sends the Taliban into the plantations, and we can withdraw the army since we'd be able to place c. 20,000 convicts instead - just like in the good old days of the Empire.

You see Adam? You have to think outside the box with these things......

G'morning all:

Since you and other posters have taken it upon yourselves to make this a personal slam fest against me, you can have it all. I refuse to be baited further. Have fun.

Stay safe, play nice, & share your toys w/ others...

I wasnt having a "personal slam fest" against you - I just would like you to explain what you said, since I obviously didnt follow what you were trying to convey.

MissMorrigan -> RE: This kind of thing always makes me rethink capitol punishment (2/29/2008 8:10:21 AM)

Bella, when I have an opinion of something which others may object to and say, "Oy, Morri, you're way off base with that one, pull your head from out of your arse, do a little research, and if not, at least listen to MY perspective, although I may still think you're 'full of shit' at the end of it" I have no objection with and would not take personally if someone called me on my behaviour. You misinterpreted a lot of what I had said to you in my posts, I do not necessarily equate out of character actions to someone's character in general  (a person being an ass sometimes does not make them an asshole generally) and you seem to have made the assumption - although I can see why - that I think of you in certain terms, I do not. We have distinct differences of opinions, that is by no means back-pedalling. You have made many strong arguments as to why you have the opinions you do, and I have asked you to explain them more than once, and also tried to get you to look at it from other perspectives - that does not mean I want you to agree with me, if you do, great, if you still are of the opinions you had originally, that's your entitlement.

Given your strong statements I had wanted to debate them with you, but that's difficult to do as it takes two persons.  The OP topic is an interest subject to discuss, and you aren't alone in your opinions either, neither am I, and as with the Euthasia thread, I have no objection with someone having a strong difference of opinion to me, but would react just as passionately should someone state, "they serve no purpose, a quick injection, get rid of them."

If you have taken some of my comments regarding your views personally and they have upset you, I do apologise.

Alumbrado -> RE: This kind of thing always makes me rethink capitol punishment (2/29/2008 6:46:33 PM)

Don't waste your time.... if there is anybody who really holds a 'law enforcement title' and still believes those ridiculous notions, their boss is named Andy, and he's due for dinner at Aunt Bea's tonight.

MissMorrigan -> RE: This kind of thing always makes me rethink capitol punishment (3/2/2008 5:00:48 AM)

I know you're right, Alumbrado. The funny thing is that I've come across admin/domestics who claim to work in 'law enforcement', which isn't specifically a lie as such, but still gives the wrong impression. Unfortunately, there are some law enforcement officers that do have the attitude that criminals need to be eradicated, and we repeatedly see those officers' attitudes reflected in their actions in the youtube clips posted in threads on these fora. I sincerely hope they are a minority.

Alumbrado -> RE: This kind of thing always makes me rethink capitol punishment (3/2/2008 7:19:54 AM)

Crossing the line in physical conflicts with subjects, yes...eradicating, and exacting lynch mob revenge on people, as the recently departed poster claims to want, I don't recall seeing on YouTube so much.
It happens, particularly when higher ups get involved, such as the Move debacle, Waco, etc.

There is a lot of trash talked inside the law enforcement culture, just as there is in sports culture, or business culture or partisan political culture about 'kicking ass' and 'getting back at' the 'other side', and that rhetoric combined with the publicity attendant to violent incidents feeds the popular notion, but a lot of people in law enforcement do the job the within the lines, so to speak

Real0ne -> RE: This kind of thing always makes me rethink capitol punishment (3/2/2008 7:43:13 AM)

Gen:

You cannot punish a dead man for a crime but a living one you can punish for years.

Killing them as in the death penalty works wonderful for covering up any crime such as a frame up and gaurantees they will never be heard.

Finally many later found innocent people have been put to death and until governments and the justice system is HONEST the deth penalty should not exist.

This reminds me of a guy I would run into near my cabin in NY state.

At first meet, I thought he was a plain-clothes NY state trooper;turns out he was a photographer for them.He had a badge and a real ass hole way of flipping it out as he bullied locals.

He was parked in front of the kerosene pump at the gas station and I asked him to move, politely. He was inside chatting it up and seemed to be put off that I asked him to move his car.

When he started for his car,he scanned my p/u truck bed, pointed to a blue garbage can and said,"you aren`t going to put kerosene in that, are you?(I had kero cans, but he only saw the big blue can)

I wasn`t really paying attention and looked up at him without responding. He took this as cause to bust my balls.

He says loudly,"you`re not going to put kerosene in that can!"......lol,I answer "no,in those cans" ,pointing to my 5 gal kero jugs.

I asked again for him to move and out comes the badge.
I`m thinking oh shit, I`m in trouble.I`m wondering if my papers are in order, etc.,and waiting for the shit storm, silently.

Then he says"ok ,I`ll move,but just a little",holding his thumb and index finger close.lol.

I`m think`n,WTF is this guy?!What a clown.

When I was in the store paying,he was at the coffee counter and I asked the cashier(who I know from elsewhere)who was that jerk? She shushes me with a twisted face while shaking her head "no".She whispers to me to not say anything to him.

Later I find out about the " law enforcement title"  he held(police photographer w/ no gun/authority) and how he was a state trooper want-a-be/major ass hole/bully.About 5'5" tall too, pathetic.Just bad news and to steer clear of him.

I`m sure there are plenty of schmucks like that , who  "hold a law enforcement titles".

Hey,even the lunch ladys at the county jail(see " law enforcement title ") have an opinion.

Added:  Happy b-day, MissMorrigan.

MissMorrigan -> RE: This kind of thing always makes me rethink capitol punishment (3/2/2008 9:03:05 AM)

Now that was darn funny!  Clearly the guy in your post was a frustrated man and felt impotent at his lack of authority, so 'adopted' a little as and where he could - otherwise known as 'short man syndrome' [;)]

Thank you for my birthday wishes. I had such a good day yesterday and as it's Mother's Day in the UK today, more of the same. I didn't think I'd get online this weekend but the boys are off amusing themselves lol
