I am still unsure what is being suggested.  Redefining?  How can you redefine it?  Revise it?  Does that mean taking stuff out (again) and or putting stuff back?  Rewitten?  There are certainly many new 'revisions' and rewitten into different versions already and continue to be so.  You can get bibles that include apocryphic books.

If your talking about building a new bible?  The books written by modern day prophets and disciples are already out there - the bible is just a collection of little books anyway.

my statement is leaning more towards those that are religious.... not Atheists.

i do not condemn people for their personal preferences in any aspect of life, to each their own!

I know, it's a vague OP - but whatever it's getting at, I still don't see why people object to any author tweaking the texts in question into some kind of different shape.

What I'd be interested in seeing is for the texts to be put back in their original context. Rather than rewrite the Bible, dismantle it. Rebuild it - I mean, are the Dead Sea scrolls present in the version people currently use?

Unless a person takes the time to study and understand archaic texts, most of the books, scrolls and writings are pretty impossible to to rewrite in the language we have today.  Many of the words don't even exist in any language.

But also you have to remember that there is another missing version of the bible. what we have today is a version of the bible for the rich ppl. one that was translated/transscribed/passed down to one rich leader (pharaoh, king, dictator) from generation to generation. so in my humble opinion, and again call me jaded if you wish, that what we have today is a completely different book that what was originally written, with text to favor those that the hebrews were originally trying to escape when they left egypt

Darcyandthedark: very true that is what i am getting at... the differences. how can one version of the Bible itself.. for the poor... be considered the true version.. when the other version.. for the rich and affleuent has not been made available? and with regards to another's post about the book that Mary wrote.... where is it....
this is part of the reason i drifted away from main stream religion as a whole.. and the Roman Catholic religion specifically... the two facedness of it all...
if any wish to know the full reasons.. i offer for you to msg me here on cm... and i will do my best to reply
