As to the Gorean forum, it's a perfectly good place to have an intelligent discussion with mostly sane and rational folks who take things like honor and self-discipline seriously.  I'm a genderbent femdom, and openly speak out as such while remaining courteous to the folks there who are wired differently from me, and I have absolutely no problem there.

Status: offline 		I just pop in here to browse around from time to time when there isn't much happening in the General Discussion, Master or submissive forums I normally frequent. I think the Gor and Poly forums are a good idea. Those poor folks get bashed far too often in the general population.

ShaktiSama says male dominants are very territorial yet I cannot recall a single thread in the Master's forum asking why so many Dommes post and read there. We generally welcome their input over there.

Guess that's not a two way street and this thread is a testament to the cliquishness you often hear people talk about in the bdsm "community".

Status: offline 		I tend to travel about without much thought to the area, only the topics. Much of what is in the mistress section, applies very little to me and my life.

While there are male dominants that are obvious in their overly testosterone ladden insecurity, there is certainly their equal in the female dominant side. No doubt about it. Also, if you expect someone to be something, quite often you will see it, whether it is really there or not. Nature of intent assumed and all. I expect humanity and courtesy, that is what I see for the most part. I am sure if I was scrutinizing every male dominant's post with a negative attitude I could find something to get my panties in a wad about. I refuse to live like that. If I wanted to strut around bellowing "I am FemmeDommeQueenoftheFuckingUniverse kiss my royal arse!" I could, and suffer the comments that such an attitude earned. It's not me (unless in humour) and I just cannot bring myself to do something so stupidly childish and insecure. Except in humour of course.

As Naja has said, being  polite and courteous, to whomever you are communicating, with goes a very long way.

I don't think I'm hostile most of the time.  In fact, I've been hostile to one of the Dommes on this board more recently than any of the males, Dominant or not (unless you want to claim that I was being hostile in my last response to you).  However, you've made it clear that you think this particular forum needs to be more openminded and that *you* are the one to do it - yeah, I'm probably going to end up being hostile to you if I continue to see that atttidude in you.  But - up until this thread, I haven't paid much attention to you ... I've seen the attitude and ignored it until you flat out stated it here - so no hostility.

See now this confuses me. I was under the impression that these forums were simply for discussing more specialised topics then those who would go into the general forum, not ones that should be arbitrarily frequented by those of that particular bent.

For example this is the ‘ask a Mistress’ forum thus this is where femdom topics are discussed by the posters, not the Dommes’ forum. This idea of ‘turf’ seems rather inane to me, I can understand that the Dommes would be more inclined to more actively defend themselves because they are seen by some as ‘against the natural order’ but seriously aren’t we all above that here. As a group of people who actively participate in and ‘alternative’ or ‘underground’ lifestyle I’d have thought that the ‘community’ would be far more accepting of other’s tastes, rather then having everyone secluded in their own little ‘camps’ I mean its hard to have a ‘community’ when there’s no communication.

Personally I post in most any topic I feel the need to comment on, I really don’t care what the forum is called.

Edit- accidental Fem Dom becomes domme *gasp*

Did he make that clear?  Really?  Because that's sure not how I read it (clarity generally requires a common reading, no?).  Indeed, it seemed to be pretty blatantly NOT what he was saying.

He was (and forgive me, Six, if I'm mischaracterising your statement) making a point that *all*(or at least most) forums are better with a diversity of viewpoints, and that without it, stagnation can develop.  This is hardly a earthshattering notion.

Also, it didn't seem that he was saying, as you imply, that it is 'him and only him' who can save the forum.  Rather, he was pointing out that he - by virtue of not being a female dominant - is amongst the diversity needed.

It does seem you're trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.  I'm wondering if you just misread him, or if you're instead mischaracterising him.

Status: offline 		Some men just think they are  superior to all women.  They probably could not answer our questions to begin with because they do not understand us thus the male veres female thing all over again.
I like to go to the Ask a Master section sometimes because they get a lot more discussion type questions rather than strap ons and other rediculous stuff we get.
It all comes down to preference I suppose.   We are all here on this planet, and somehow, we are going to have to agree to disagree.

Status: offline 		Pandora it all stems from childhood. Wanting to listen in as the adults talked. You thought that you were going to hear about something exciting. Mostly we were rejected and told to go outside and play.
