Cheers to the 'New Guard' It's not that I do not believe that there is nothing to learn from the 'Old Guard', it's that I don't think I need to be told that my values are skewed or wrong by someone based on the fact that they had some influence on the beginning of a movement.

Bad Masters. I am not looking for a Master. I learned long ago everyone is different so what they do is up to them. I was at a meeting out of Ohio and I went with a Dom/Domme couple who are good friends but nothing further. I went as their slave to avoid problems. We were talking with a sub we know and next to us was a Dom/sub? Couple. The Dom ordered his sub to get him a drink and the sub said no. He ordered again and the sub told him if he wanted "any" he would be nice. The sub looked at me and ordered me to get the drink. I ignored him and he stated he would kick my ass if I didn't get that drink. The Domme told the other sub that his action was was inappropriate and to apologize. The sub called her a bitch; he has no idea of how close he came to physical harm. She went to the host and the host told them to leave NOW and I am sure they will not get invited again too many area events. That is what a 21 year old “self proclaimed Master” gets you.

If after 1778 posts she should be able to tell if people ar serious.

I was not rude; you will note I congratulated him if it worked for him. I am, however, happy to have what I have, which is actually REAL, unlike Old-Guard-worship. Assuming that "Old Guard" has any superiority to anything else -- when the Old Guard "traditions" varied dramatically from town to town -- is ignorant at best. His position was that of someone not schooled in history and tradition. Positions based on fiction deserve less respect than positions based on fact.

I think the 'trend' is that some people get so caught up in all the bdsm propaganda that they can't see the forest for the trees anymore. Words like master, mistress, dom, daddy, sub, slave etc are only terms/labels/names we apply in our bdsm relationships to describe our orientations and how we see our partners in relation to ourselves. Someone's master is just someone's master because that master has a person in his life that sees him as such, and relates to him as such, and refers to him as such. They're not actually a master to everyone else in the world. There aren't any "Real Masters". People are people, with good and bad characteristics, regardless of their bdsm orientation, or what they call themselves within their private relationships.

So, what I am supposed to do is believe that you, a stranger on the internet, know the time honored one true way of things.. and the entire universe outside of your one true way is the wrong way... um, ok, I do not buy that... good luck finding your master that will conform to you and your standards of what sort of master he should be.
