I know I love my European passports.
Read up on the subject. Europe is very different from the United States in that it has a tradition of strong government.

Seig Heil!!! Now get in the oven untermensch we need Libensraum!!!

You know, if you insist on spewing offensive shit, you could at least *try* to get it halfway right.

You shouldn't expect better from people who always look out of the window and never in the mirror.

Yes, your German is that poor. And no, I have absolutely no intention to correct that drivel.
Even if it were written in perfect German, it would still be idiotic crap.

I expect better from everybody. There is no excuse for such an amount of ignorance.

I find people who support strong central governement and the curbing of free speech ignorant, it is what killed my family.

kittinSol -> RE: Europe (3/13/2008 3:17:55 PM)

You know... the European Union is striving for unity and peace. Since you care so much, a little bit of diplomacy goes a long way in achieving such goals [;)] .

I am sorry for your loss, but equating every strong, central government with the 3rd reich shows a lack of information.

Zensee -> RE: Europe (3/13/2008 3:30:05 PM)

If you don't choose leaders, they will choose you.

For all the faults and difficulties inherent in our present systems of government, they are all preferable to waiting around for the multinational corporations and the handful of extremely rich people who control them, to take unbridled control of our  nation states and our lives.

I'll take a strong federal government or even the mythical "one world government" over a Mc'tatorship any day.

3rd reich, Soviet Communism, Fasism and its ilk all started with Strong authoritarian governments and curbing of free speech.
It is the root and the beggining of systematic opression.
I cant wrap my head around how a person can be proud of that.

seeksfemslave -> RE: Europe (3/13/2008 4:38:54 PM)

To anyone or no one....I dont care.
We have today the degrading spectacle of the Scottish UK Prime Minister wanting to implement changes in the way VAT ( Value Added Tax) is applied admitting that it cannot be done without the consent of presumably the EU parliament.

That this nation which created an Empire such as the world has never seen should be reduced to such ignominious grovelling subservience makes me choke on my cornflakes.

"It is the root"? Which is the root? An authioritarian central government or curbing freedom of speech?

Does the EU qualify in either case?

Turnabout is fair play. The chickens eventually come home to roost. Things have a way of balancing out over time. All's fair in love and empire. As ye sew, so shall ye reap. You get what's coming to you...

I'll catch them dice.

VAT is harmonised across the EU to our great advantage.  The whole idea of the single market is that UK companies have a massive level playing field on which to perform.  Instead of 55m customers, we now have 400m and we are doing very well out of the deal - as anyone actually involved with the real world will tell you.  Think of the tariffs and restrictions involved in selling to the US, non-EU Europe etc.  Lose that and we put millions out of work and crash the healthiest economy in Europe.

Brown is seeking to reduce VAT on green products across Europe, so that as a whole, Europe will reduce its carbon footprint.  He already has the agreement of Sarkozy.  The EU must lead the way on green issues because Washington won't and Beijing won't.  Brown is viewed as being pretty far-sighted for this stance. He's grovelling to no-one, he's doing what every knowledgeable voter wants.

Try Weetabix instead. We're not getting it on a plate anymore seeks, and hard as it may be for some of our population to accept we're going to have to roll up our sleeves and start grafting, like what happens in many other countries in the world.

However as I'm sure you're aware a lot of the population are already grafting and grafting hard, some would want to graft but can't and there's quite a lot of people out there living hand to mouth.

Maybe the EU isn't the problem. Maybe it's the selling off of British industry for not being profitable enough, not investing, turning everything into a service industry based economy and our cities into Toytown replicas of high street chains and shopping centres.

Chickens have come home to roost, seeks. Or rather chickens have come home to roast, and are sold in every High Street along with kebabs, pizza, burgers and whatever else the happy shoppers want to buy.

Why don't we just stop farting about with the General Election every five years and just admit that Rupert Murdoch is the longest serving Prime Minister in history?
