Actually, i suspect the problem is that i can't afford ammunition anymore... goddamned Republican administrations [:@] Time to fix bayonets!

Probably because you are trying to buy 5.56mm
7.62 wolf ammo is still cheap

People get stewed in melting pots.
Name one stable ethnically diverse society in the whole wide world.

By stable I mean without friction occuring as a result of the ethnic mix.
Go on, name one he he he he he he he he

Look at Van Goth oh wait he bled to death during the cultural exchange.

if you are white, and you voice an opinion (and I'm not talking about calling people names, which also has the same double standard btw) and even mention someone else's race in the discussion such as 'blacks are being given better and more opportunities for advanced education, not due to having better grades or earning higher scores, but simply due to the colour of their skin, and I find it insulting to black people and unfair to whites'.

Do you truly believe that black people are given better opportunities for higher education?

Yes my classmate's application was rejected for job at the ATF, they were only hiring minorities. The supervisor flat out told him that.
Im not even gonna go into college application process.

Yeah yeah yeah... poor white people... they have it so tough in America today... minorities have all the advantages... preferential treatments... mollycoddled... I feel so sorry for everyone.

The whining from some (white, it's so unfair!) posters on this board is getting sickening - I think it's time for some meditation [:D] .

Aneirin -> RE: Racist (3/13/2008 3:19:46 PM)

Here, UK, when filling in a form an application or whatever, we are required to fill in an ethnicity form to say what ethnic origin we are, no doubt for yet more statistics and managers to shift the balance.

To me, asking a person's ethnicity is wrong. Anyone who wants to apply for something should do so, ethnicity should be no part of it. If they are qualified, then apply. If they hold the better qualifications, then they are obviously better suited to what they applied for, a simple question that requires a simple answer.

I see people as all the same, if I choose to dislike a person, that is largely based upon how they treat me, I would rather call one of a different ethnicity friend than one of my own if they did not like my views.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Racist (3/13/2008 3:24:17 PM)

Truth is some people are not equal to me in some areas, and I am not equal to them in some areas. It is a fact. Any difference in a human being makes equality false. Humans judge based upon many things and until we are all exactly the same, there will always be perceptions of inequality.

Just because something has been used as a justification, does not automatically make it untrue.

Equality is a myth, and instead of trying to force people to be accepting, those energies would better be spent to insure of equitable treatment under the law.

The old argument that not all human beings are equal has been used as a way to justify racism, sexism and other unpalatable things, for decades. Argue that not everybody's equal, and it allows you to make some "more equal" than others. It's because of ideas such as yours that the principle of equality under the law is not applied as rigorously as it should be - by the police, by the justice system, and by society in general.

You know... melting pots work: I lived in quite a few.

scorpius80 -> RE: Racist (3/13/2008 3:37:43 PM)

What she said was racist, she said he would not be doing as well if he were not black, that is like someone saying he only got that job because he is white.  You are looking at someone based on their ethnicity, and the truth is none of them have experience being president, cause none have ever been.  Most of the People in the US want someone who they feel is not corrupt or looking out for the wrong people in this country.  so they are going democrat and some feel Hillary will go about things in a way that would benefit her, other feel Obama woud do so, and some people feel the Clintons owe people, and will owe people when they get in office.  If it was a gourp thing and voting is anonymous so why not just vote for who you want?

Aneirin -> RE: Racist (3/13/2008 3:48:15 PM)

The US leads the world, the world is looking on with bated breath as to what may happen. It is up to you folks and we are looking to you.

What hapeppens in the US generally becomes a benchmark for the rest of the Western world to follow, as has always been, with both good and not so good.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Racist (3/13/2008 3:55:35 PM)

I thought you said things should be equal? Actually things should be based upon merit, and merit alone. It should not be based upon whether someone had or did not have certain advantages in their life. Fair is a concept that people use as an opinon on whether they agree with something or not.

You cannot base anything on merit alone if you forfeit such a basic democratic principle as equality under the law.

Why do provisions which seek to better the level of opportunities for minorities bother you so much, Orion? Have you had more than your share of rejections, recently?

"I find it insulting and ignorant when I've had people tell me that I got into either the undergraduate or graduate university I went to because of my race or my gender."

As would I. I never said or implied that about anyone. I said that minorities have an unfair advantages as far as admissions go at many/most major colleges and universities. Fact.

Except its not a fact.  Posting a link from a random website who provides no citations isn't proof of anything.

I posted Dartmouth's self-reported student profile where their most recent class is all of a whopping 7% black.  Compared to the 2000 Census where blacks are roughly 13% of the population, I don't think they are exactly attending Dartmouth like gangbusters.  And if you look at the rest of the Dartmouth student profile statistics they show a very highly qualified student population (for instance over 90% of their students are in the top 10% of their high school), so I'm failing to see where they are admitting unqualified minorities at some rediculously high percentage.

Its fine if you have an opinion that minorities are taking over the ivies - just like I have an opinion (in fact as someone that attended an ivy) that they aren't.  But its hardly a fact.

C~

P.S. - The reason why I'm continuing with Dartmouth as an example is simply because that was the example you presented as fact.

because that is th eright way to vote rather than throw votes to other candidates like these morons do.  throwing votes to a candidate you did not like or want just to stay with the party is bad government in a big way.  Always vote your heartt and write in whoever you wanted in the first place!!

This bears no resemblance to the reality in the country in which we both live.  As I stated earlier, positive discrimination is illegal in the UK, in work or education.  Ethnic monitoring on applications is just that - monitoring.

So how exactly is that following the example the US sets?
