Some religions allow gay ministers and they may GASP spank their partners.  Who are you to say the OP kink is a insult???

Spanking your partner is a sexual connection between two consenting adults. Asking a minister to spank you because it gets you hot is a totally different thing. The op isn't partnered with the minister and he hasn't bothered to tell him that he wants this because it's a sexual turn on. Since he hasn't been open with the minister, the minister isn't consenting.

I guess somehow your dad being a minister somehow gives you greater insight into how pastors think and what their motives are.  The headlines are filled with "ppl of the cloth"who have done wrong.  So being the son of a minister does not give your view any more weight than others.  Some religions allow gay ministers and they may GASP spank their partners.  Who are you to say the OP kink is a insult???

I'd like to think that having been given an inside view of the church from the other side gives me more insight, yes.  Doesn't make me the final word, SB, you should know better than to draw that conclusion - unless you're trying to be ironic, having poked at my statement for the verbiage of 'insult'.

I was going by literal translation of the tenets of the Christian church as they pertain to discipline, humility, and honest repent; you can Google them faster than I can draw the breath to type them here and decide for yourself if my words have merit, rather than being judgmental of my statement.  A little education never hurts. [8D]  Enough education does let you draw conclusions, which human beings do every day.

If it makes you feel better:  I'm not even close to the final authority on the subject.  I do have a seven-year window of looking at the church as it functions from behind the scenes, and based on that experience yes, I feel quite valid drawing my own conclusion regarding the OP's merits in context with the proposition made.  Take it as you like, but I'd rather see you try to tackle the issue, instead of the posters - that's the bigger challenge.

Dang.  I came back here hoping there would be more, uhhh, wank material. Someone tell me again why asking your minister to spank you would be wrong.  Pweaseeeeeeeee.

I have not figured out how insult and educate belong in the same sentance.  My read of it was cuz "my daddy said so"  Now if your were a luthern minister ehhh that wouldn't matter either cuz  calling someone spank kink an insult is plain wrong in my book.  For me you came across as holier than thou.

If you would like to compare resumes I'd be more than happy to.  8 years of religious study.  Read 2 versions of the bible cover to cover.  Taught bible study  3 years.  Spent countless days discussing religion with pastors of quite a few faiths.  It's been quite a jouney for me.  And somehow you came across to me as having One Right Way.  Which just ain't so

I know the whole negative connotation layered out for "twue" in these threads, SB...so do you. [;)]

It's unhealthy to live a life where you cannot draw conclusions.  How else would you define yourself?  Let the definition change, but know what it is in relation to the time and place you're at...

I won't banter 'right' with you.  I expressed an opinion.  It's worth what you give it, you're entitled to diss it; I've extrapolated enough to make my intent clear.  For the record - if you have that much exposure to religion, you know it's inherently fraught with transliteral exposition...in other words, people take what they want from it.  They defend their belief as they see fit, and since it's based on belief, not logic, any debate thusly created is really no more than a pissing contest of persuasion.  Any belief you have to rationalize with logic is counter to the purpose, by definition.

Gee, looked like to me that he was just presenting a view from being the son of a minister, nothing was said about him being more right or wrong, just stating from his perspective.....sheesh.
So what's the point of bringing up the fact that a very few religious denominations allow gay ministers? Is their sexual orientation that fascinating to the bulk of the population yet has no bearing on whether they are competent to do the job they were called to do?
I mean: wtf
