I think the most important part of the OP's post is in the title..."sense of humor". There is a time and place for everything and I see nothing wrong with quick witted, smart answers....so long as it is the proper time and place for such. Just the other day I gave him the finger(pointed at the floor) as a response. I asked him if he could hear it or would he like me to turn it up for him. Another of my favorite responses to a request to get something is to say "You know, God helps those who help themselves". Of course he understands that those responses are not meant in a serious way and are supposed to be funny and are followed by compliance to the original request. If he couldn't see the humor in it we wouldn't be partners because living with someone who is serious all the time holds no interest for me. Those smart assed comebacks generally result in a good, shared laugh and at times can even lead to impromptu play. He knows that I would not seriously answer him in that manner, but if I had to always be uptight and worry that joking around would be misinterpreted as disrespect....well....no thanks on that, I'd just take a pass.

Status: offline 		Well erin, my reactions to this are never really about being offended as such. I'd have a serious talk if I did. I just have a twisted sense of humor, and it can boomerang. And I knew the girl in the op got off on this sort of stuff. There were other issues that lead to us breaking up-this was not one of them.

Well,I really don't go the chemical route. I like to have fun, and while I have a sadistic streak-it's never really from malice. My being mad at someone hurts me more than it does them.

Status: offline 		Both Sir and I share a very sick, twisted and ironic sense of humour (as you can see by my current sig line), a good thing too quite frankly or I would have changed my name and gone vanilla to escape Him long ago. Some of the things I do for His amusement, really I should have a safe word for.

As a well brought,expensively educated, English young lady I have the ability to insult someone without actually saying anything offensive, thus I can be perfectly polite and within protocol, and really let myself go. This is ever so helpful during a scene. Sadly I seem to havef ound one of the only Americans who actually fully understands English humour and subtext as well as the English do. So He understands *exactly* what I mean when in dulcet tones and perfect diction I say "Of course darling, it would be my pleasure"

Recently, upon a discussion of my political views (not long for this world) He suggested I join the communist party, I actually retched. He found this hilarious ...He eventually settled on the Labour Party (am praying that he actually was kidding about volunteering for them).

I would tell you what Sir has given me as a safe word, But I just checked and it actually does violates 4 different TOS .. and I dont want my ass handed to me by the Mods today. But lets just say, the fall out from actually using it in earshot of another living soul, is motivation enough *never* to safeword

But the repartee in iteself can be quite amusing. Especially when you both attach key meaning to words-that others are not aware of..

Status: offline 		I like fun and playfulness.  When I am at work, I can kid around with some of my patients and they kid me, I kid my daughters and they kid me, I kid my family and they kid me.  It has been that way with every woman I have ever been with...including the submissive women.  When they said something that came across as disrespectful OR if they said something that was clearly disrespect guised as humor, they were called on it right away...sometimes punished for it...but I can't stand serious all the time.  I've had other dominants, and a couple of submissives, tell me when they overheard me engaged in conversation with a submissive I was seeing that I was much too lenient or that I let them get away with disrespect or blah...blah...blah. 

I don't.  I've made it clear I don't so brats and I don't do those who are wiseass all the time just for the sake of being wiseass and I don't do disrespect.  That leaves a lot of room.  And like everything else, communication about this point and where it lies in the dynamic helps a lot.

But, back to the OP, I love your reaction to that!  I have a friend or two who say that, and it drives me batty.  It's nearly as bad as when someone is relating something bad that happened to them and you say, "I'm sorry," and they say, "Not your fault."  What the hell do you say back?  "Oh, well, in that case, I rescind my sympathy."

Most of my friends have a wicked, but not nasty, sense of humor.  I certainly have one.  *grins evilly*  I appreciate a rapier wit and the creativity involved on following through on it.  I don't appreciate some people's mean-spirited sense of humor, though.

That was about the time I developed my first really effective locking bondage belt, and ctrotch strap in heavy duty leather and steel. Then she said it again,and I had the "fun" experience of sticking something up HER ass-and locking it in there.

I was beyond amused by her reactions.

Status: offline 		my Sir appreciates my sense of humour - thank goddess - because I can be something of a smartarse.  One story I can tell - we had a play party at our house. Me and another sub were chained to the cross, and my Sir was playing with the violent wand with us , and neither of us liked it a whole lot. The power strip was at my feet - I stretched my foot out and turned it off. Sir had no idea that I was doing that - he thought the violent wand was malfunctioning , so he went to the hitachi wand, and just as the sub was ready to come - I turned it off.

the rest of the room roared, and once Sir realised what I had done - so did he. I think the only person who didn't think it was too funny was the sub.

she got to swat me on the arse as revenge.

my Sir knows I'm not a brat - but sometimes I let my sense of humour get the best of me.  my bad
