ORIGINAL: MissIsis I was hospitalized for an eating disorder years ago & I also have fibromyalgia. Some days it is a battle still, but I always come back to what has worked for me in the past, walking & actually eating enough food that is nutritious. I understand that sometimes it is hard. I really have to work hard at pushing myself sometimes to do what is healthy for me. Writing down what you are eating is a great tool. Is there a place you could put notes next to what you ate, (just for you to see), as to how you were feeling when you may have eaten something that you don't feel was the best food choice? According to the USDA Food Pyramid, we should be eating: 2-3 servings of milk, yogurt & cheese 3-5 servings of veggies 2-3 servings of meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, & nuts 2-4 servings of Fruit 6-11 servings of Bread, Cereal, Rice & Pasta I am not suggesting you try to eat all of these, but your diet is very short on these items. Fresh veggies are very low in calories, & very high in nutritional value. I am not sure what your stomach can handle, but maybe there is some way you can incorporate a little more of the lower caloric items into your diet. I am losing weight right now, by just adding fresh veggies either in salad, or cut-up celery, carrots, ect & using a dip. I am finding that by adding a small amount of fat into my daily diet, I am less hungry, & food cravings have been minimized. I make a healthier butter by mixing about butter with a 1/4 proportion of good olive oil for toast in the morning. Whole Grains like Brown Rice, & regular slow cooked oatmeal can be very filling, & can be a gentle way to add fiber to your day. Also, the walking is effectively helping with boosting my metabolism. I add strength training with the walking by using a stretchy band for my upper body while walking. Whatever you choose, good luck to you. I am very glad you are getting help from your nutritionist & doctors. A good support system is great to have. MissIsis, not to hijack here...but was it ever suggested there may be a connection between the fibromyalgia and the eating disorder?
