Rule...the symptoms must, must be treated to keep the patient alive while the core issue is dealt with.

If you read the whole thread, you will see that in post 33 I said very much the same:

Do not treat symptoms (unless immediate death is impending), but always try to discern the cause, the root of the problem.

Also I have stressed in many of my posts that she needs to consult with her physician about these matters.

how do you know if I have that or not?

You would have said something, mentioned some symptom, that indicated to me that you might have Hashimoto's. But you did not.

Look this whole Hashimoto's idea did not exist in relation to you until someone who suffers from this disease, a lay person without any knowledge about you at all and no knowledge of biochemistry whatsoever, started to project her issues on you. It is like a mirage view in the desert.

Go to your physician and ask him to test for Hashimoto's (he will then refer you to a hospital or clinic, I suppose). Most likely he will refuse, but if he does not, you will know one way or the other.

what are the symptoms then? I have tons of symptoms. Constant pain...joints...muscles...skin sensitive to the touch...headaches all the damn time...burning sensation in my thighs...back hurts constantly...very prone to infection...I get yeast and bacterial vaginal infections A LOT...and UTI/bladder infections...and I get huge boils on my chest..body acne all over...I'm nauseous most of the time...indigestion...acid reflux...my hair falls out...breaks and splits...my nails don't grow anymore...I rarely get thirsty and have to force myself to drink water...which makes me nauseous. umm...what else...I don't get a period naturally so I have to take birth control. I'm sure theres tons others...but thats all I can think of atm.

Nevertheless treating the symptoms only will only attribute to the derailment of her body.

in that case, you are contradicting yourself

the only problem is that when I eat a lot of veggies, I get full...and then I don't have room for protein LOL and I need to try to get as much protein as possible. At least thats what my nutritionist says.

I bought some quinoa flakes (kinda like oatmeal, but from quinoa, so it's a complete protein) a few weeks ago...but I haven't tried them yet. I've been meaning to...I may later, if I start feeling better. I've been really nauseous since I ate my yogurt this morning.

i am not sure how much cooking you do, nor do i want to sound like Betty Crocker here, but if you buy the regular quinoa as opposed to the flakes it can be used as one would use rice..added to meatloaf, soups, etc.

hehe I know...I have some regular quinoa as well. (I buy it in bulk off amazon LOL) It's pretty good. I generally eat it alone with beans though. I'm not much of a cook LOL I rarely eat rice anymore...I don't really like brown rice and white rice has no real nutritiion. So I've switched to quinoa

Problem is that often when someone mentions a condition we instantly feel that we have it, we mould ourselves to believe that its what we have got, expecially as you Doll can often be very anxious over twinges and such like, it seems that you often jump on them. The only person really who can tell you what you have got is a Doctor.

hehe yeah I know...I worry so much about my health. And then if I read about something...and I have one or two symptoms...I'm like I HAVE THAT! LOL which is why I'm trying to stay away from discovery health...I love that channel...but especially shows like mystery diagnoses...it makes me so paranoid LOL

glad to help. I would also suggest regular quinoa (found mostly in a health food store like GNC) it is a rare carb that is protein packed. My UM's Doctor suggested it when he was going through a health crisis. The only thing is, you have to get rather creative to inprove the taste. I used cinnimon,  fresh friut etc to get him to eat it. (I also did the "spoon as an airplane" thing that he really likes, but somehow, TexasCutie...i don't think that will work for you.)

I agree with Rule.
Dollparts, I'm sure you have been told by a doctor that the cause of your low thyroid is the abuse you have put your body through in the past. It's very common.
I'm pretty sure my thyroid doesn't work correctly either, due to some (different) things I did in the past.
Oh, and, doctors do post on here and read these forums, so, don't always jump to the conclusion that the person posting isn't a doctor unless you ask.
Btw, HM recently published a very large medical book which has many many different diseases in it. It is used by medical professionals and in universities. If I were to ask Him specifics on one, some He would know right off the bat, and others He would have to look up. And knowing these things is a large part of His job.
Google is your friend.

*crap* I posted under His profile because I am using His computer, while mine is in the shop. This is xxblushesxx btw....

I know that fibromyalgia is common in those with hypothyroidism.

Yep, may be associated.

And hypothyroidism is common in those with eating disorders. So I guess that would be a connection?

Not necessarily and indications are most certainly not in your case.

I *do* but that might be giving out too much info. I can give it to you on the other side if you like. This is just for you, though, because I really don't want to 'out' Him.

please don't take this as a hijack...but i would really suggest getting into cooking a lil bit.  You would be amazed at how a few non-carb spices can change the flavor of something from "this again" to "wow". When you have the "wow" the cravings may be less.
Just a thought..

Google "Hashimoto's syndrome / disorder / disease"
Google is useful - and wikipedia may be useful sometimes too.

Not much I can do with. At a guess I would say that most if not all may be consequences of the bulimia derailing your biochemistry. Your hair problems for example may be a consequence of a lack of vitamins; just speculating.
