females like working with animals, females are cheaper work labour on average (in the same jobs)

Nice stereotyping there.  I wouldn't say that either sex automatically likes to work with animals more than the other sex.  Zoos tend to pay the same wage for keeper positions regardless of gender; they can't really get away with anything else.

doesn't make the job or person less then the other though

No, but the last poster was suggesting that a woman could not fight a grizzly bear, and the fact is that there are about as many women as men these days working hands-on with big carnivores, bears and other zoo animals.  The lead bear keeper at one zoo I know of is a gal who is shorter than me, and that's saying something as I'm not exactly tall.

NG, re a comment you made to me about women and them being neglected in board rooms, etc.

I was a wife and mother for years. I CHOSE that for myself, no one forced me into, it was exactly what I wanted, not what was expected of me, by anyone. I was no little woman who stayed home and baked biscuits because that's the way it should be.

A strong woman is one who CHOOSES to live her life exactly as she wants to, without care for what she is expected to do by society. A dominant woman does all that and has men/women who live to serve her whilst she does whatever the hell she wants to do.

it is not stereo typing because the answer is not liked. Tell me please....form all the nurses..how is the ratio male/female?
Facts are facts..it is not about stereotypes. DOes that mean if you call it stereotypes..that alll the ladies in female roles..are "not o.k."?
I just wanted to state..with out saying who is stronger....there are sometimes just things females like or do better then males. This can because of the way their bodies are build or the brain is functioning. Nothing wrong with that.

Obviously choices have consequences. What's your point?

There are currently more female than male animal wranglers in the zoo and wildlife industry, and damn good ones too.

When I used to work with horses, for money. I was one of the two most expensive people doing so in my area. Without trying to rack my brain to make a list of names, I would say that the gender split was about 50/50 if not slightly more men. I never noticed a pay bias in what anyone charged. I, along with the other young woman, charged the most because we could. People were more than willing to pay it. Quite often we were paid an extremely high amount to deal with problems created by male "trainers".

Many times, when working with animals, attempting to use brute force actually has the reverse of the desired effect. Taking the time to learn how a specific species functions, then, that specific individual, then learning how to use those facts to your advantage, requires very little physical strength. I like to compare it to a sort of dance. First you learn the steps, then your partner, then you begin to communicate. From that communiation comes a practiced behaviour, a dance. At some point less and less conscious effort is required to accomplish the task.

yes it is..but you as an oposite example i could say .I have no musical feeling...therefor I can read many guides about dancing...but I will never find the rhytme to do it right. I can try..but I fail.

Nail.  Head.  Hammer.  Hit.  You're very obviously a long-term experienced animal trainer.  Many people in the business don't progress to that level of understanding at all, but the ones who do are definitely the ones to hire.
