How many inches is "normal" for around your neck?

Status: offline 		I know it's a weird question...but if anyone has a tape measure...how many inches around is your neck? Mine is 14.5 inches now...which is a lot smaller than it was. I don't know what is normal though? How much more do I need to lose to have a normal neck? I HATE my neck

Status: offline 		When it comes to wearing a Dress Shirt, I perfer to have anything between 16.5 to 17.5 on the collar length. I'm right around 16.5 but my neck swells or bulges depending on humidity, water weight, blood vessles, and if I'm singing or playing an instrument.

Status: offline 		Around my neck? About 18".  For Normal "normal"? Judging by how difficult it is to find shirts that don't strangle the crap out of me, i'm guessing smaller.

Status: offline 		Fox's neck is 18", as is his collar. Judging by hs collar length my neck is about 17", which I think sounds about right. Makes finding chokers I like a pain in the tail.
Normal? Normal is overrated.

I see little point in being concerned about the circumference of a woman's neck. What we be next? Asking how her day went?

Status: offline 		I started measuring people in 1972 and have observed some interesting things.
A woman's 'normal' neck would be any where from 11" - 16", with 11 belonging to a very petite woman, perhaps 100 lbs or so.  (Or a man who was very tiny 120 - 130 lbs).  "Normal" comes in many shapes and sizes.  Height, bone structure and weight are all deciding factors for what would be 'normal' for you.  

Men's necks are usually from 14.5 (little) to 20" seldom do they vary outside that.  Height and weight proportions are relevant in what would be the 'normal' size. 

Men are usually bigger than woman, but a lot of that does tend to be determined by nationality.  One observation that I have made over the years is that men and women often have the same measurements; however the shape will be quite different.  I've joked with men who have my measurements and tell them it looks quite different on them. 

A lot of our shape can be defined by the lives we live.  I've measured athletic men who had thighs bigger than my waist!  Another fun fact is that men actually do have a hip measurement that is larger than their waists!  The average difference between a woman's bust and waist is 8".  Girl’s hips are larger than their busts as little children. 

Is it just the circumference of your neck you dislike or is it the length and circumference combined??  Beautiful comes in all sizes and shapes....your neck is not large in ratio to your other dimensions.
