  yup.

The story was the thing.

The original '1984' was pretty campy.

The version w/ Richard Burton ,was devastatingly scary.(remember the rat filled face mask?)

Imagine a well done remake of Soylent Green.

Pure and simple I know many are against the conservative flow of things but all in all he did many great things. Fighting for what you believe in is NOT a hiccup even if you don't agree with it.

He knew America had Flaws but he faught for our RIGHT to those Flaws and the right to Protect against those who would remove those flaws. In the end you have to ask yourself Is what you believe in a Flaw to someone else?

He faught to that ALL of you EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU could have the right to DEFEND to the Death if that was what was needed, whatever you believed in. He really didn't care about political concepts he wanted the Constitution and the Bill Of Rights Upheld for EVERYONE.

He was a Good man and I see NO hiccups in his GREAT career.

Steel, I think he was a great man.  But I am going to have to disagree with you on one point.  Fighting for what you believe in is a hiccup if you're wrong.  A lot of beliefs that I used to hold, I no longer hold.  I don't regret them, but I was wrong.  I don't use the term, "hiccup" to describe them, but admission of wrong is essential for gaining wisdom.

Charlton Heston actually supported Lyndon Johnson's Gun Control Act of 1968.  He later admitted that he was wrong on that judgment.  As was mentioned earlier, he showed up on Saturday Night Live to apologize for comments he has made about the show earlier.  That is class, and the mark of a educated, wise, gentlemanly man.  Some of Heston's detractors could and should learn a lesson from his example.  George Clooney made derogatory comments about his Alzhiemers affliction.  He refused to apologize for it when called on it.  Heston simply dismissed his comments as a lack of class and pointed out that Clooney may have the same affliction in his latter years.  Michael Moore is another adolescent minded retard that Heston handled with class.  Moore tried to call him on a NRA meeting in Michigan after the death of a young girl in Flint.  Of course, Moore failed to point out that those meetings are mandatory for political organizations in Michigan.  He was a pompous ass when he interviewed Heston, and Heston simply got up and walked off......like a gentleman.

Agreed but I still believe It was NOT a Hiccup.

he may have had to come back and eat crow but he did what he felt was right before and after changing his mind and that is a Noble act. I cannot fault the man for those things.

And all of this of course is only one mans opinin I just happen to hold him in a great light.

hmmm...some people here seem to be under the assumption that i'm against the 2nd ammendment.  i hat to do this as my first post was probably the one these people should refer to....but since i've been indicted, let me clarify......i believe every American citizen of legal age without a felonious record should have the right to bear arms AFTER a longer waiting period than many currently have...and that said arms need not be military-style assault weapons that would do better in a war zone, and not in the average American home where teenagers with emotional issies can have accesss to them and blow up half the ninth-grade 4-H club...now as i said before in regards to Charlton Heston...using my 1st ammendment right, mind you...

I think he was a great actor and I loved many of his movies and as a younger man he was GORGEOUS  <EG>.......

He stood up for what he believed in .... I didnt always agree with him but liked that he was willing to stand up for his beliefs and admit to himself and the world when he decided he was wrong ...

The world was a better place with him in it .. and we need more like him .. in my opinion ....

The right to defend yourself is the ultimate civil right.

Only if your attitude is that it is perfectly natural to live in the wild west.  A different culture might say that the ultimate civil right is to live in a peaceful, orderly society where everyone and his mother does not have a gun so everyone and his mother does not need a gun.  I know that sounds ridiculously naive to you, but where I live, it actually works rather well.

I thought Chuck Heston's finest and most natural performance was in "Bowling for Columbine".  Nicely understated compared to his Biblical epics.
