Dear Keira, Votes may change things or , perhaps not. An informed electorate can be a powerful force for change. However, no matter which party is in power, you, yourself, are not powerless. Yes, you and so many of us have formidable obstacles and challenges. However, this being the U.S., we also have opportunities that most in the rest of the world do not. For example: I work with a man who is a Cuban "balsero". He came to this country 8 years ago , on a reft, with nothing but the clothes on his back. In Cuba, he had an M.D. and worked as a physician. Here, he became a massage therapist ( and a damn good one). He now owns his own home, brought his parents from Cuba and bought them a home. He also owns 2 cabins in the mountains of north Georgia which he and his family use from time to time. The rest of the time, the cabins are rented out and he actually turns a profit on them. He has $$ in the bank, great credit and drives a nice, though modest, new vehicle. His story is just one of many that I know of that are similar. In this country, where there is a will, there is usually a way. You will never get ahead by working for wages or a salary. Or by living in consumer debt. Get creative and put that to work for you. You are obviously an intelligent woman. Make it work for you and your family. Best Wishes to you.
