Hey, now!  If it weren't for my voracious reading I wouldn't have developed a taste for most of the things I currently have a taste for.  Like pickles.  Okay.  Bad example.

Seriously, though, I was reading BDSM erotica, novels and instructional texts long before I'd ever seen a flogger.  It gave me the courage to follow through on my desires.  I always like having read as much as I can about something before I participate.  It's been seven years that I've been playing now, five of them seriously, and I credit it to giving myself the time to read and learn before I watched and learned more.

Hi all, thanks so much for contributing your responses!  I've had a busy day, and am just getting a chance to get back to this thread.  I agree with SO many of the responses that many of you have made (i.e., they're pet peeves of mine too)!

Bummer. I thought you were gonna go down the list (or pick a few at least) and read our pet peeve tarot cards.

Another pet peeve, people who wail and bemoan because their dog, cat, horse got hit by a car when they didn't have them in a securely fenced area. It isn't a driver's fault when your animal dashes out from behind a tree onto the road, it's yours. Don't blame the driver for not stopping and ringing every doorbell in the neighborhood to identify the owner of the animal, blame yourself.

I work in a small (~20 people) office at a government agency. Almost all of us say, "Good Morning!" when we first encounter each other.

But there are a couple of women who, for whatever their own little reasons, will literally walk within two feet of me and not say a word! Of course, one of them looks at me as if I'm a talking chimpanzee if I dare say something to her on my own...so maybe it's just me.

my pet peeves:

1) people who make assumptions and start yelling at some poor poster that has nothing to do with what that poster was trying to say in the first place
2) people who don't read directions
3) static electricity (not kidding, it's a bitch)
4) not saying my last name right (it's kinda like saying smith as smithe)
5) thinking the abbreviation for Arkansas is anything BUT AR.
6) people who use big words and know what they mean and only use them to make others feel inferior
7) people who say "well you get what you pay for" or "it's bdsm, expect to be abused" and then get angry or make fun of people when they say "i didn't know he would turn out to be abuser"

i think that's it for now :-) i'll get back to ya

a simple answer to confuse the tiny squirrel folk, if you hang the feeder with string, make a knot in it, put an upside down pie tin on the rope above the feeder.  it not only makes it difficult for the squirrel people to get to the feeder, it is hilarious to watch them slide off, honest i am not a sadist.  It is always a good idea to eat the pie before using the tin.  if it is covered well enough, you could also mix the birdseed with red pepper.  the birds won't notice, and the squirrels will hate it.

my pet peeve is misplacing the squirrel outfit, and people who don't put steak in the bird feeder.

When I am old...wait. When I am really old, I will wait until the working folks get to work before inflicting my slow-ass self on the world. I will not drive 15 miles under the speed limit when they're wanting to go 15 over, trying to get to work; I will not go to the grocery and shuffle my cart down the exact center of the aisle so others can't get past even though they are sprinting in 4" heels because they are obviously late-late-late (!); I will not go through the bank drive through line and fill out the deposit slip there with my arthritic little hands while 5 cars idle behind me with panicked faces willing me to "just die already." I'll avoid the coffee shops in the morning, and let the addicts with too much to do that day can get their "Grande Frappuccino Light Blend Hold the Whip Cream" so they might be able to cope...

~gulp~

Yes, and as you get older, it becomes more difficult to peddle your ass.  but you can still make money, people will pay to keep it covered.  just a thought.

Jam jars, pickle jars, Marmite jars. Nutella jars....any fkn kind of jar when the lid won't come off until I have stabbed the fkn lid with a fork, or a knife...in fact until I have taken out all my pent up aggression by stabbing the lid...in order to break the vacuum, in order to let air in, in order to open the damn thing...at which point my guilt and wheat intolerance has kicked back in and i don't need the jam sandwhich, pickle sandwhich, banana and Marmite (really good) sandwhich and the damn jar doesn't have a vacuum seal on it anymore and therefore grows that layer of green mould on the top of the contents so that by the time the craving for the damn jam sandwhich comes around (28 days later) I have to buy another one and hope this time I CAN OPEN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh and PMT and those who give me it-must-be-that-time-of-the-month-look.......

Vigorous idea, thank you Ray. So let's see...this means I'll get up at 4, strap my briefcase to my body, put the kid on the handle bars and bring a wet nap with which to "towel" myself off...I would hate to offend.

Having to work midnights. Sleep all day.  Get up. Drink a  strong pot of coffee while showering and putting on makeup just to have my boss call to say that the facility cancelled at 10:00pm when I have to be there at 11:00p.  So Im wired and awake, dressed up with no where to go!

People who come into my store looking for the veeblefetzer mark five. That last one was made in Sandusky Ohio, in 1935. Using a new mystery metal-unavailabilium.

They claim that they bought one here yesterday-it cost $1.95.

They forget that what really happened was that they found it in the prince albert tin, in uncle charlie's attic. And that the reason they forgot-was that they smoke too much weed.
