slaveboy,

If that is tuly how you feel, and there is no difference to you, do me a favor? For god's sake don't vote for McCain, because another old, war hawkish, jingoistic member of the GOP we do not need. So since we do not know who is on the ballot for the dems yet, just vote Hillary or Obama ( crosses fingers and trades soul to the devil for Hillary. )  Unless the idea of another 100 years in Iraq excites you. Thanks.

There are plenty of reasons to leave Iraq.....It's not going to happen anytime soon.  I don't care who gets elected this go around.  None of them are going to pull our troops out of there.  Congress will never grow some balls and cut the funding.  It's not going to happen.  I have come to a point where I don't even care anymore.  I have absolutely no faith in government.  I just want them to leave me alone.  I hardly even pay attention when a new scandal pops up.  I used to wonder why so many people in this country were apathetic about politics.  Now I know, and I completely empathise with people that don't vote.  I have so many better things to do with my time than to listen to these lying assholes.  Don't get me wrong, I will vote.  But with the 3 candidates they have up for President now, I almost feel like flipping a coin when I step into the booth in November.  There isn't a damn lick of significant difference between them.

Aynne,

I will never vote for a Clinton.  I grew up in Arkansas during the Clinton governorship.  They are scumbags; I remember the kinds of crap they did while they were here.  I grew up in the same hometown as Billy.  His mother was a regular fixture here in town before she died.  I can't stand them.  She has done nothing but lie repeatedly this entire campaign.  Her little story about getting shot at in Bosnia should have been the end of her.  How dare she try and make up a story like that?  At least McCain is the real deal when it comes to heroism.  I will vote for a third party candidate before I vote for her.

If you think that Hillary Clinton will get us out of Iraq, you're smoking crack.   I don't mean any offense, but she is not going to do that.  She is just as much of a warhawk as McCain is.  The difference being that McCain has actual beliefs in the morality of the war.  Hillary only does what is good for Hillary.  She won't risk a second term by risking the chaos that is sure to come with an Iraq pullout.  I don't know about Obama.  He seems sincere, but I don't think he has a chance in hell of beating McCain.  He is too inexperienced.  But he does have one thing going for him.  He is just as experienced as Hillary.

I was going to comment on this topic until I read this part.

She is moreso. Isn't she the one who said she plans to attack Iran if they moved against Israel?

Personally, I plan to vote Obama. If, however, by some demonic miracle clinton gets nominated, I will vote McCain long before I consider putting that bitch in the white house.

No matter what we do, stay, pull out, or even fix Iraq, we lose, Iran wins.  That was why Iraq was a bad idea from day one.

So true. I actually remember when the operation against Afghanistan started and I was like "get those fuckers." Then the Iraq stuff started building up and I was like "were taking our anger out on the wrong people." I had already looked into Iraq at that time, and realized that Saddam, though ruthless and IMO evil, was the stablizing factor. Saddam also kept the religious zealots in check. The Chinese saying of "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" came to mind.

Oh sweet Sugar, I just cannot when the fate of the country is involved. Well, it will  be very interesting tomorrow when the Bill Moyers interview with Rev. Wright is aired. Saw snippets of it tonight on Olbermann, very damaging to Obama.

slaveboy,

You clearly said you do not vote and do not care...so am I to assume that your "Hillary is a bitch post" means you do care a bit? Then vote, or hush.

There is no favorite, just to select a least objectionable choice:
another old, war hawkish, jingoistic member of the GOP
    on the optimistic side:
a fellow who not only says nothing really well, but also ignores his reported spiritual leader and claims to have paid no attention to him for 20 years, that you expect will pay attention to your country, or
a woman who wants to take control of your health, but shifts the blame for household strife on some "Vast right-wing conspiracy" and while threatening the hard line internationally, shied away from that domestically to suit her ambitions.
i am quite pleased that the effort to reinstate the draft dropped out of the picture a while back  (at least the Shumer-D-NY version).
Do we, however, see 3rd party anywhere?

This post, to me, suggests you have never served and that you cannot and will not ever understand what it means to be part of something bigger than your own pettiness.

When I was young all the gas was plentiful
Bountiful, my tank was full, and so cheap as well
And the guy at the pumps he would fill me so happily
Joyfully, generously giving change to me
Since the war in Iraq Bush hasn't been sensible
Logical, economical, just talking bull
Now they've doubled the price, the price of gas is ludicrous
Ridiculous, Americans are furious and so nervous
Candidates for the White House are so few
I don't know what to do
I think they're all insane
Hillary's campaign now looks kaput
Obama's chewing his own foot
I'm scared of John MacCain
Watch where you park
'Cos gas prices rise after dark
Oh what a lark
And the dollar bill
Is really ill
Seems the Americans will have to start riding bicycles
Cos of these criminals making gas astronomical
It's diabolical

Don't know what the situation will take
Will every American have to import a sheikh
To keep them well supplied
Americans are facing their worst fears
Knowing these past eight years
They've been taken for a ride..

My humble apologies to Supertramp (inspired by the Logical Song)

Sooo... what do you say to the guys who were ALREADY enlisted, hrm? It's not that easy to get a discharge from the army... an honorable one at least.

I don't agree with the war anymore, but I have no problems with soldiers... that's like yelling at the guy running the gas station, because you think the price of gas is too high. That guy's too damn low on the totem pole to do anything about it.

i am old enough to remember a slightly similar scenario in the late 70's where the Iranians overtook the US embassy, gas was rationed to odd and even days, there was double digit inflation, and double digit unemployment.  This was, however, a peacetime situation, and just for the record there was a democrat president, and democrat congress.  oh yeah, 2 army helicopters went down  in a failed rescue attempt.
the more things change, the more they stay the same, no?
