Yet who provides thousands of troops for Afghanistan's combat zones and who provides a few logistics types far from the firing lines? E You know, there are some obstacles stemming from history when it comes to the German military and fighting. I would not count on that changing too soon. Indeed, nor should it. I rather like Deutschland just the way it is, and if I could afford it, would be one of the very few places on the planet I'd voluntarily live. Oddly, in the 3 times I've been to Germany, I never met a single soul who was obsessing about being invaded by anybody. They know it's preposterous, and they don't even have an ocean between them and any potential "enemy". I even read a little German, and I never read any hysterical editorials about invaders and other comic-book shit in Der Spiegel Or Suddeutsch Zeitung or Berliner Morgenpost. It's a sick right-wing fantasy about hordes of Chinese or Moslems landing at Newport Beach or the Jersey shore. Cracks me up.
