This is what I frikkin love about the Rush Limbaugh crowd, their ability to absolutely fabricate the yellowcake truth, then build a whole reality based on the lie. It's an endearing example of pure Americana the likes of which I for one will think back on with nostalgia.

Being a cop does not mean that a person has the right to abuse others. You can honestly say that abuse doesn't happen??Or that because it comes from a cop it is all okie dokie to use their power in a way that damages or kills people? Scary scary way to see things IMO. Your post stunned me actually.

Maybe I should have refraimed from this OP.

W/o police only the brutest would worked.

Ill try not to go gogga one way or the other. On the one hand we need em, on the other hand,nevermind.

I was raised around cops. My father was one. My god-father was one [now a detective], heck, the people who watched [baby sat] me for the first 7 or 8 years of life WERE cops, and now, I am dating a former cop [and have on a few other occassions].

You have the good and the bad in EVERY profession; this time the topic of discussion is about cops. How did the officers involved in the OP 'damage' or 'kill' anyone? So they had the guy checked out for drugs, so what? He was/is a CRIMINAL. Those officers had a right to protect themselves and to have him checked out. I am ALL for officers using any reasonable means neccessary to subdue a suspect or perpatrator. No pity or coddling. No reason to.

I have heard stories from my exhusband [he has spent time in jail and prison off and on for years and even told me how he got drugs into a few] and from officers I know about what people [try to] sneek into prisons and other corectional facilities, I am amazed at how injunitive (sp?) they can be at times.

I know of more people on this site that are abusers and more dangerious than any cops. You only hear about the bad cops and rarely about the good ones. Their are a LOT more good ones, than bad ones.

I respectfully disagree. The first organized police force was the Praetorian Guard, it was created specifically and only to protect augustus Caesar from assasination. After Rome fell there was no organized police force, watches and militias maintained order and that is the same thing that would happen here. Hell, it does happen here, look at those Minutemen fewls. Bottom line, even with the police, "only the brutest would worked.[sic]"

I have to say that it is a mystery to me how someone could have a logic chain like yours. I mean, you drive a car and presumably could get a hand gun license, correct? Scary. Ok, let's take it slowly. Have you ever experienced a colonoscopy? How about an invasive procedure where a camera enters your anus, and is shoved as far up your intestine as it will reach? Maybe, based on the nature of this site, you don't think that is all that bad, ok. Did you read the thread? Do you remember this statement?

You really need to confirm your information. go back and read the article, then read it again and tell us where it says he had comitted any crime.

It's like you think, ok, these are people, true, but when they put on a blue uniform, an angel comes down and kisses them and they can no longer do wrong.

My dad was a reserve officer and my uncle was a captain in the LAPD, decorated for being shot in the neck while on duty. So far as I ever heard, it was less a calling and more a job.

I think, in context, you need to keep in mind that the Albany Police department is *currently* not only dealing with this, but also their commission of sexual assault on a motorist they pulled over one night, *and* a shitload of missing assault rifles.

Which, I guess is better than Schenectady, where the wife of the chief-o-police just got taken down in a coke ring.

Remember, if they want respect, they need to clean up their own mess and EARN respect.

Respecting people just because they got uniforms and guns is the sign of a Totalitarian dictatorship. And it's not respect -- it's a self defens mechanism...
