You can use a number of things, chicken, shrimp, and sausage are the usual suspects. Mix them with a good roux, and rice..... and oh my.

So you think local, state and federal goverment should tell you what to eat? Are you a vegetarian? Are you nuts?
If you dont want to, you dont have to eat it. But Its insanity and an infridgement on my rights to be told how to kill my food, or if I can.
sheesh.

I don't mind eating the raw tortured liver of a force-fed goose, but I set my limits at eating pig - as long as there's no pig, I'm game. (Gettit? Gettit? "Pig", "I'm game"? Did you get it?)

Is it insanity and infringement of one's rights to have other laws against animal abuse? If I want to carve a swastika into an animal (to take a real example), should that be legal?

See they club cows on the head, wring chickens necks, keep calves in confined cages so they cant move so the veal is tender.

Bologna does not come from a tree ya know.

No, no and no.
No I don't and I won't. Insanity - no. Infringement - perhaps, but I see this thread about to derail full-steam onto animal rights issues.... but then perhaps that was Level's original intent, no?

You're a city girl aren't you?  I really don't see what the big deal is.  The goose didn't look hurt to me.  I think most people that aren't familiar with agricultural practices are always shocked when they see what goes on.

I'm a gourmand and an ex vegetarian.
I was young. I didn't know any better.
So what do you like better,
Paella, Zuppa de Mare or Bouillabaisse?

I get why the idea of foie gras is distasteful to some, I really do...
But when I think about it, the way all meat is 'produced' is barbaric. The geese in question , if raised to standards, should be able to run around, not confined in cages like battery hens. Foie gras is a cultural tradition far remote from what most people on this thread know... that's how I see it.

There's a real debate to be had over our attitude towards animals: on one hand we oversentimentalise them and infuse them with all manners of anthropomorphic qualities when they're our pets, and yet, on the other we think nothing of the way they're battered, tazered, shot and skinned alive in most abattoirs... it's definitely a subject of reflexion.

Anyone who doesn't want to know how sausage is made, should really take pains to not find out how foie gras and veal are produced.
