I get why the idea of foie gras is distasteful to some, I really do... But when I think about it, the way all meat is 'produced' is barbaric. The geese in question , if raised to standards, should be able to run around, not confined in cages like battery hens. Foie gras is a cultural tradition far remote from what most people on this thread know... that's how I see it. There's a real debate to be had over our attitude towards animals: on one hand we oversentimentalise them and infuse them with all manners of anthropomorphic qualities when they're our pets, and yet, on the other we think nothing of the way they're battered, tazered, shot and skinned alive in most abattoirs... it's definitely a subject of reflexion.
