It's funny you should mention this, because the journalist asked Mr Moore or whatever his name was if he didn't worry some of his customers would take the gun and go and hijack petrol stations so that they'd have their gas and their gun (he seemed to believe everybody that bought from him was an upstanding citizen).

I dont leave my house without at least my pocketknife... Everytime I do I end up needing it for something
and if I went to work without it my boss would die of shock (after yelling at me for not bringing it lol)

I heard the guy being interviewed on NPR yesterday (he must be a communist, then). He explained that they sold 45 cars in the past week, and that nearly everybody goes for the gun, because they have it for life (or death, if luck would have it ).

The quote I heard indicated that one option is fuel.....the target of theives everywhere lately, and the other option is protection, from those theives.

Well Kittin, it's just a voucher for a gun at a local gun store.  The recipients still have to go through the background checks.

Guess the journalist hadn't done enough research on their subject matter to find out what 'passing a background check' means.. it make a funny bit of imagery, but things haven't gotten to that point yet...

Now when the food conglomerates keep playing the same game as the petro-thugs, all bets are off.

You're right. It's never too late to become a criminal, however.

while that is true... a kitchen knife can be used in a robbery or murder... so I dont see the problem. Hes assuming As all gun shops do, that the government regulations in place will keep people honest... Or at least stop non-honest people from aquiring weapons (though we all know its easier to get a gun downtown in most major cities anyway)

It's kind of like a book token then. A bit of a lazy present because someone should know what the other person they are getting the gift for likes. Why not just give the person cash back so that they can buy something they might find useful to themselves based on their needs? I can't really understand the need for a gun promotion unless he has a side deal with some arms dealer.

I think it is the 'easier' part that has influence there.

I think my point was that any criminal that wants a gun can get one illegaly, its not like they're worried about breaking a possesion law if they are planning on commiting robbery/murder

Am I wrong in thinking people push guns onto others to justify their own personal need for them and that is what this is all about to spread the faith?

Yeah, you are pretty much wrong, if that is a blanket assertion...if you mean that there are some people like that, what's your point?

maybe there are a lot of gun owners in the area already?
I think this is less some sort of "missionary" mission as much as area-based advertising, They probably just thought it was a good way to sell more cars...

Now here is a weapon that combines both religion and brutality in a sort of exotic mix... I've got a 6 inch one in my car console right now... just in case I should feel 'spiritual'

I bet there are easier ways to get a gun rather than going out and buying a car, getting a voucher for a gun. Then going to the gun shop, having a background check done and still having to chip in the extra to get any sort of quality gun. Personally I've never used a gun in a crime (not coming to a full stop at my corner stop sign requires no weapons) but if I were going to I would just go buy one. Hmm then I'd have to register it so maybe I'd go steal one? Cept I don't know who to steal one from..Oh hell you're right. This is the easy way.

Hey, I was trying to make light of the situation... What amazes me is that it's okay to do such a promotion. Note: I am keeping my personal opinion on the matter pretty much away from this gun lovefest  . That is the easy way too.

Well you are wrong, because no one is "pushing" guns on anyone.  I am not walking aroung calling people pussies because they don't want to own guns.  I respect other people's choices, but don't try to tell me what choices to make either.  I am a law abiding person, and I have been handling guns since I was 8 years old.  I got my first gun when I was 12.  It was a single shot, 20 guage winchester.  I still have it.  I shouldn't be denied my right to own a gun just because a few morons use them irresponsibly.
