Why in the world should we let anyone that commits actual crimes against his fellow man off the hook? These are crimes involving torture, violence, maiming, murder, etc. against many, many people all over the world.

Honestly, what is wrong with some of you?

It is not that people necessarily disagree with you on Bush’s nefariousness, it’s just that... you know... we have lives.

Okay, seriously – for some folk it’s just a sort of resigned pessimism, history has shown that the power elite usually (not always, but usually) are not held accountable. Others may be as deeply concerned and righteously angry about it as you are but that doesn’t mean they stew about it 24/7, which you give the impression of doing. It’s like I told those screeching protestors yawping away about the Duke Lacrosse Rape Case (or hoax, as it turned out to be) at the mall one day. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, blah, blah blah, preppy rich white boys are out to screw everybody. Gotch ya. Now could you shut the fuck up for just five minutes? People are trying to eat their lunch here."

There is also the fact that your seemingly constant "conservatives are the root of all evil" refrain is off putting because it smacks of simple bigotry. I swear, one of these days I’m going to come onto Collarme and see a thread titled, "Studies show that Republicans like to kick pregnant puppies," and I’ll know instantly who started it. Listen to IrishKnight:

quote:

Someone's gonna get an anurism from all this Bush-hate stuff. When you work so hard to hate someone its gotta be bad for your health.

I can back up what he is saying. Nothing good comes from hate. Keep the righteous indignation if you feel it is justified (I have plenty of things I am righteously indignant about myself) but let go of the hate. It only perpetuates the cycle that has been dragging down the human race since day one. It starts with the individual. It starts with me (by which, in this case, I mean you).

Jeez, some of you have completely lost it...I don't really care, but it's worth making a few points about it for future reference.

Some of you think that this thread is about me and my state of mind, or how I actually "feel" or don't feel about a man I have never met in real life. Newsflash: you probably can't easily figure me out based solely on the things I post about. My judgment of the tactic: it's little more than a thread derailment attempted by way of a personal attack.

Some of you think this is my only means of political expression. Gee, how do you know that? You have no idea who I am much less what I do in the world.

In the main I hope only to pass on what I see as important and relevant news of the day. If you don't find it useful, fine. But all this other nonsense is just wasting time. Everyone see through it.

The first few posts I made to this thread give you everything you need to inform yourselves. If you won't, then I have nothing more to offer you.

Dude, imo, this is like telling Jews to get over the holocaust because if they don't, the anxiety will give them zits. These are war crimes, treason, even. I believe that this administrations crimes are of such magnitude that, once out of power, the  good people of conscience that remain in responsible positions will open an independent investigation into the administration's acts and respond appropriately...in U.S. courts.

Regardless of my political view, As to the origin of the thread, I do take most things said with less than a grain of salt and consider the source.  But then I'm not in my early 40's with 30+ years lifetsyle experience either.

You aren't paying attention. My point was that it doesn't grant him LEGAL protection as a CRIMINAL.

What Bush has gotten away with isn’t any different then what people in his position, or ones like it, have been getting away since the beginning of evolution.

My personal dislike for him, is similar to how I feel about Bill, he’s a liar; only his lies have effected a broader scope, in a more rapid, and violent manner.

I do not need to know the “facts” in order to see the results.

From what I understand, the intent of every administration has been to deceive the people; deceit and liberty do not mix company.

They need to go after Bush's war crimes like they went after Clinton for the oh-so-important *snicker* Monica scandal in a way that is decisive, aggressive, and cruel...democrats need a lesson in playing dirty.  I think people are so afraid of Bush he can go to a whore house and cheat on his wife and totally screw up his personal life, and no one will do a thing about it (at least not as much as they tried to do to Bill, who did so much more good for this country.  Ya, that's how we repay Bill, to show him we didn't need him in the first place and don't owe him anything).  And we don't mess with those that don't do any unsolicited favors (unsolicited favors is seen as a weakness doing good for strangers) for us (as we never want to own anyone anything).  We just love those that do what they want, without regard for others in an asshole way or not, cuz for some reason that shows strength and is sooo cool and popular... ooooo and aaaaaaah.

As far as I can tell, the American population has been beaten into submission as far as Bush is concerned.    Ohhh scary, he might start another useless war and send all our young troops to get senselessly killed off to teach us a lesson not to mess with texas, then brainwash us to believe that it's some sort of religious right of passage to kill terrorists in a really stupid way.  That guy's already gotten away with so much and is too well-connected by blood with his lineage of Bush's in office, Daddy, Brother, and Grand Daddy, to mess with.  He even claims he's related to George Washington.  Plus he loves to be hated (or maybe is too drunk to care).  The more we hate him, the more he shrugs it off as a billion people wanting to kill me.. whatever ..that's expected.

We gotta beat him at his own game, and NOT take the high road All this logic? and following the laws??  fooey!!  won't matter jack-shit in getting Bush trashed.  Just a bunch of people still romanticizing that the high road in politics that it may actually matter, only to see that all that rationalization and energy spent doesn't matter and then crying wolf decades later after he's already in the grave after having lived the good life.

The thing that annoys me the most is that people tend to believe that the President runs EVERYTHING in this country when in fact Congress has to approve EVERYTHING he does.  If you want to blame someone, blame Congress.

I think the guy at the top either tanks or raises a country by his leadership and the direction and style.  So whoever does the grunge work, if the guy on the top has the veto power, we are going to be steered in the direction that he takes the country--whether all the masses doing the actual grunge work pushing this little law here or there like it or not.  Congress will only run a country (any where the wind blows) if the President is so damned clueless stupid passive, or lacks any sort of proactive leadership skills to direct the whole motion picture.

Most of the time ideology that's been impacted upon one during/since their formative years transcends the revolution that learned critical thinking brings to the table.

Assassination aside...The ambivalence / reluctance to see Obahma’s candidacy for what it is, reminds me of Plato’s allegory about the ''Cave.''

You have all these people who’ve been tied up in a cave, all the time looking at shadows on the wall..... and they think that’s reality. But if you free them from their fetters, untie them and bring them into the sunlight, they’re horrified and want kill you because you’ve destroyed their illusion of what they perceive to be reality.

*butts into the conversation, unwelcomed*

What I love is this; Cheney was out hunting with a long time friend, and shot the fellow, and didn't accompany him to the hospital.

Now, I may be young, and I may not be the wisest of folk, but I do believe if I had admitted to having a beer and shot a buddy on a hunting trip -- especially if we'd been hunting several years -- I'd be in jail. I think especially if I didn't get to the hospital with him (hmmm... maybe 'a' beer is more like a keg? or a vat? A 3-liter?), the police would not see it as an accident, rather criminal negligence... But hey, you can f**k people on every front, skirt the law, and be hugely rich and powerful if you're the Vice Prez.

But let's impeach Clinton for lying about getting oral.

Thank the Gods there's not a snowballs chance in Hades that Hilary will be elected.

*end of slightly on-topic rant*

I'm gonna have to disagree with you.  If the people can make a case, then by all means prosecute. It can be done without the constant venom and vitriol.  All I hear from so many is the hate aspect.  Someone earlier said I was putting doen intelligent conversation.  If you're foaming at the mouth angry, you aren't having one.
I may have misread Sugar but he has been sounding angrier and angrier.  That is not intelligent discourse but time to calm yourself.  I've had conversations with Jewish friends concering the holocaust that were less angry than some of the Bush haters.  It IS unhealthy to dwell on hate and anger so much.
As to his treason and war crimes, I am not in a position to prove or disprove ANY of them.  All I have to go on is somebody's say so.  IF it ever goes to trial, I'll watch with interest.

Actually, hate is never easy.  It takes effort to maintain.  Why doyou want to give so much energy toGWB?  Dislike and ambivalence you can maintain for free.  They are also not prone to cause your blood pressure to rise.

If we could tap the energy expended in this country in a single day in the screaming and frothing of those who have nothing better to do but actively hate the dumb ass in chief, we would be able to shut off a number of power plants.

I don't care if this was supposed to be funny or not. Progressives say this sort of thing about Conservatives all the time yet Conservatives are expected to show perfect love and understanding and respect and tolerance for anyone standing on the left...

The kind of attitude displayed in that quote is one of the reasons why I hold little back when criticizing Democrat candidates. This kind of vile hate speech (and much worse) from the left is so commonplace that it almost seems normal after a while, so usual that it goes almost unnoticed any more.

Yet if there's the slightest whiff of even legitimate politically oriented criticism towards one of their candidates, you have the usual suspect come through the thread like the energizer bunny calling you a klan member or whatever.

The double standard is ridiculous.
