Understandable that it turns your stomach, it's a very powerful thing with a lot of symbolism-punishment while looking directly into the face of the one being punished so you're more "intimately connected" than over the knee spanking etc, humiliation/degredation because you wouldn't normally strike someone so directly accept in real anger or if you were smacking a small child, even then you'd only threaten to give them "a thinck ear" so in a way you're treating someone as if they were a small child and not "deserving" of respect as an adlut, so face slapping is extreme in a lot of people's eyes.

I read that you can end up with a detached retina if you're not careful, which to be honest scares the pants of Me lol, so I think a lot of care needs to be taken.

I've had this done... it was fairly gentle.  I thought it was hot at the time.  I think it would depend on the context and partner.  I didn't find it humiliating or degrading (I absolutely don't do either), and it wasn't intended to be by the dom.  Hard to explain.

I can totally see how it could be seen as such, though. 

It probably *is* one of those love it or hate it things... OP, with your reaction to fantasy roleplay this strong, I don't recommend ever going there in real life.

Interestingly enough, we just did this last night......i must agree with the.dark. The way he studies my face before he slaps me, focusing all of his thoughts and energy on me.........mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....yeah, i like it...i like it alot... And am frankly hoping for much MUCH more where that came from.

Gonna have to agree with you there.  Fantasizing about something in IM - talking about it only - couldn't elicit much reaction, I'm afraid.  He could say he was sawing off body parts and I'm not sure it would get much of a reaction.  Just talk.
i wondered if anyone else has such a violent and bad reaction to face slapping.  To me it's just total and instant degradation
I agree with everything Aileen said.  I love it more than anything and don't find it "degrading" at all.  When a slap takes me by surprise, it's like a switch has been thrown.  He says He can see my entire demeanor/expression change.  I'm always submissive to Him but when that first smack comes across my face, He says He can see it in my eyes just how much "more" submissive I seem to become at that instant.  Nothing gets me in the right headspace faster than a hard, fast smack across the face (and then another, another, and another[;)]).  I wouldn't trade it for anything..............luci

There is the word I was looking for... primal.  I love that word and the thoughts that it invokes for me.  It is rare that I want to engage in sexual activities that are not primal.  Face slapping is one of those tools that he doesn't use very often, but it is very primal when he does.  It gets things down to a base level really quick and it is fun as hell.

Hmmm....  i absolutely hate Him slapping my face.  However He will on occasion do it to reinforce my submission; it is never very hard, but it is hard for me to take.  Afterwards however, i feel almost proud of myself for 'letting' Him go past a previously hard limit.  It has no association with past trauma so apart from the humiliation, there is no chance of psychological damage.  i think it is a necessary part of my training.

We do face slapping.  For me it is neither degrading or humiliating.  For me it is turn on and we use it as such.

Face slapping for me is a no no.  I hate it and i know Master would never do that to me.  Before i met Master i had one play partner do it , I tiod him if you ever do that again i will never play nor speak to you again.  I was seriously pissed.  I got my message across.

I am new here and just getting started. I have yet to have a scene of any kind. I am aprehensive to say the least of having my face slapped. To me, I would be totally negated as a person and don't know how I would react. I once was seeing someone (vanilla) who blew smoke in my face. He thought he was being erotic. I slapped his arm. I was very insulted. Leave my face alone.

Hitting my face is a huge turn on for me, if it's done right. For some reason, I can't start off a scene with an all out slap to the face, but if it's done right in the middle of something... hot. The hand is my least favorite thing to get hit with their though... maybe something about it being so solid, and knocking me around. Canes and something like a singletail in the face work a lot better for me.

when this slave was a wee one, she was trained to "take" a face slapping as a form of punishment.  one had to stand there in front of Mom, arms at sides, and have one's face slapped---no crying out, attempts to block, move away or flinching allowed...or you would get one more.
 
as a result, face slapping, for this slave, is a way of making all trains of thought or good feelings of pleasure come to a screeching halt.  this slave shuts down and goes into "freeze" mode, making her mind a complete blank.  it is neither sensual, hot, degrading nor humiliating because this slave was trained, very well, to have NO response to it at all...just to accept it, and move on.

Face slapping has to be done correctly and at the right time. My favorite partner told me once that he has to see a look in my eye before i am ready to even be spanked...ever since then ive tried to have that look 24/7 but everyone at work thinks i need glasses.
Personally i would be terrified if an object were aimed at my face. The detached retina thing is a real health concern...but a bit of abject terror is hardly ever a bad thing in my book...
