The problem with using movies as a role model is that the female characters aren't giving authentic responses. They are acting, quoting lines that they wouldn't use themselves in such circumstances. This is especially true of any fiction screenwritten or wrote by a male, who is writing what he wants the result to be and not what the result actually is.

The reality is that a husband and wife arguing about money is not going to be solved if he backhands her and breaks her jaw, something movies don't show as a result. They aren't going to have mad passionate sex afterwards with her agreeing that he's right to spend the rent money on a new shotgun instead of paying the rent. As long as you base stuff on fiction written solely to get men to hand over money, expect wildly differing results from the ones shown in the porn flick.

I have no way of knowing what you'd have thought of if I hadn't excluded anyone, or what you'd have spit out, and I wanted the male perspectives anyway on this thread.

I got very little but flames the first day. I rant back, and voila! The noise-to-signal ratio goes way up following. It could simply be coincidence, but I don't think so.

The question got answered to my satisfaction; I've got plenty to look into. But it took entirely too much. Watch me not ask for anything again; I've learned my lesson.
