Next you'll be expecting sensitivity and warmth.....geesh!

Celtic, you are the LAST person I would expect sensitivity from.  And warmth?  Eh, only if you happen to act in the capacity of a human heating element during the winter...

While I realize that many of the posts were made tongue in cheek (though I can think of better uses for your tongues!) I Have appreciated the answers ... even the joking ones.  I asked another male aquaintance last night what his answer to this question is while we were having dinner.  His comment amounted to "The Hunt".

Come on Celtic Lord,

We all know ,or at least I know, you are a real sweetie pie.

That would depend how you think about things.

I would also suggest that it would be unwise to paint all men with the same brush; the first thing that leaps out at me about the answers is that they are not all identical.  If you try to platonify things too much, you lose the important nuances.

No, there are a lot of nuances to many of the responces so far.  Which, oddly enough, actually helps.  The fact that this is Not drawing stock answers, blithe nonsense like "shut up and bring me a beer", or two word ill concieved jokes - really makes me feel better about having posted this.  I felt a bit of trepidation originally, because I was worried that it would devolve into just such.

But this is the core and my Sir has talked about it more than once. He says when women ask a man,"what are you thinking?' and he says, "nothing", He means it. Women are always over analyzing men. They do not overthink things like a women. You tell them something they take it at face value. They dont fester over things trying to find deeper meaning in whats said. They sleep better at night because they dont have their wheels spinning all the time like women. Their emotions dont cloud them.

Wait, what do you mean by that?  Are you trying to say men don't think?  Or are you trying to say we don't think enough?  Or, maybe we think too much?  Or we don't have deep meanings in what we say?  Or we don't have deep meaning in what we try to say?  Damn, now I'm going to be up all night!

And yet, no really satisfactory answer has ever been given.  I probably shouldn't post this while I'm having a "not even Lemonaide" day, but since it's a factor in what has made today (and this week) so frustrating, I'm going to anyway.

What is it, Honestly, that men want?  I don't mean "what do sub men want" or "what do dom men want" - because frankly, that is the easy part.  The subs (both male and female) want someone to take charge.  The doms (again both male and female) want someone to take charge Of.  All well and good, but completely irrelevant to what it is that I'm having a hard time figuring out.

What is it that males - regardless of orientation towards dom/sub - want out of women?

Is it Eyecandy and Sex?  (not necessarily in that order)
Or is it something that not even males can explain in a satisfactory manner?

While I was much (Much) younger, I asked my father - as the  male who was closest to me - what it is that men want.  His answer was fairly straightforward, but the older I get, the more I question whether it's still relevant, and whether it was even really Relevant to anyone other than himself when he gave me this answer:   "Men want Betty Crocker in the Kitchen, June Cleaver in Public, and The Happy Hooker in the bedroom."  After saying that, he refused to elaborate further.  Was he right?  Was he wrong?  Am I simply to frustrated right now with males in general for the answer to make much difference?

i'm not sure. i think it depends on the Man.

When i was about 40, two different wealthy men worked with in a high-profile professional manner asked me if i would become their mistress.  Yanno, they'd pay my bills, etc.

i was absolutely floored.  Did all the work we'd done together matter at all?  Were they secretly fantasizing about me while we were deciding which company should win the $35 million contract we'd just awarded?  Why would they want a 40 yr old woman as a mistress to begin with?

After all the time we'd worked together did they really believed i'd be interested in becoming a prostitute?  Was there some built in 'sleaze' factor because the arena we worked in was highly political?

When i refused them -- in turn -- they seemed genuinely baffled.

i ended up feeling like some Men are seriously weird.

Yet other Men i've known -- in and out of D/s -- want my company.  They want to stay in touch, and fix my problems if They can.  They want me to be happy.

i think Men run the gamet.  Some genuinely like women and enjoy them on many levels.  Others seem to have fears, insecurities or hostilties about women, and want as little to do with us as possible while still getting laid.

And why is it that you're not there to fix their problems and make them happy?

I think that, perhaps, some posts in this thread are being taken too seriously by some ladies.. Many, if not most, of the posts made by men have been made with tongue firmly in cheek and because we love to pull the girls' pigtails and chase them with bugs.

I love the way Gwynvyd's sig puts it in a nutshell for me.
"Come for the boobs, stay for the brains"
The boobs, btw, can be anywhere from fried egg size to wheelbarrow babies.

If the hat fit...

However, it's not ALWAYS about you, yanno.

Btw, I would kiss your ass...

You tawkin' ta ME ? Ya wanna piece of ME ? Bring it.

guys are stupid they don't know what they want. When they get it they fuck it up by toying with it and then when it's gone thats when they realize what they had.

You did attend your local male network meeting for the year to pick up a copy of the guidelines, right?

No, I got lost on the way, and by the time I asked for directions, the meeting was over.

In my experience men in general are simple in their needs; food, sex, entertainment and male bonding activities.  Their wants however can be much more complicated.

Men want to feel like they matter.. like they have an effect (not even necessarily that anyone else notices it.. well, subs probably need someone to notice).  I think that is it.  What it takes for each man to feel like that is another matter entirely.  Probably most dominant men gain that feeling through conquest of some kind.

One of my subs frequently needs a good listener, as he a lone wolf the majority of the time.  When we first met he spent many hours explaining his views on stoicism, military training and motorcycles.

I think the sex and food thing seems to go without saying for most guys.  So many of us are "Bears with furniture."  However, I think many of us also want someone we can talk to.  Not immediately after sex or while we're eating ... If we just want someone to cook and screw we can go out to eat and pick up hookers.
