Why do you feel the need to put words into my mouth, O59. Is it that you find your arguments to be... impotent without your embellishing them?

I've never said anything of the sort about Senator Obama, and if FOX News is willing to report on facts that other networks are too biased to report on concerning the man then that is well and good - but I seriously doubt that you can find any credible links proving any of your wild allegations regarding either myself or FOX News.

Lads and lasses - he ain't been to "Europe", he's been to Germany. I can provide you with some inside knowledge - this part of Europe has more pressing concerns than an audience with a bloke from thousands of miles away.

You keep getting your German history wrong NG. Hitler never liked Berlin because on the whole, Berlin never liked him. He got pissed off when Berliners didn't fill the streets to wave the troops off to war in 1939. Berliners weren't so hot on Frederick I (Soldier King) or Frederick II (The Great) either for obvious reasons if you read Prussian history. Berlin has historically been a liberal city. My guess is they turned out for Obama because they think he is (or at least hope) a peacenik and the complete opposite of the uncultured, unthinking and warmongering Bush.

You're absolutely right, Meat.......Hitler would have welcomed Obama with open arms and an amicable chat regarding the merits of Jesse Jackson.

Did you know Mo Aba is an anagram of Obama?.......interesting eh.

I'll hold off on any comment on the speech itself until I've had a good opportunity to watch the entire thing.

To those who want to bicker over making comparisons to Hitler, I do wish the Barry Bunch would quit the denial over just how creepy the cult of personality is, when it becomes so central to the core image of the candidate.  I was wandering around one of America's truly great street markets yesterday, and spotted four seperate vendors selling t-shirts with "Obama" on them.

Are you trying to say that Obama's populatity is creepy? What country to do you live in? If you want creepy look at Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Condoleeze Rice, or Donald Rumsfeldt.

There is popularity, Cloud, and then there is idolatry, worship, and blind faith.  And I'm not trying to say it's creepy, I'm stating I find it that way as a straight fact.

As for where I live, are you suggesting it's un-American not to fall on my knees because his holy name has been spoken?

Rove and the rest have nothing to do with what's being discussed here.

I'm not religious, but I think I understand devotion and faith ;-) . To me, it makes more sense to believe in someone than in an entity whose existence remains unproven... Perhaps that's what's going on with the 'worshiping' you so deplore. Although until people start paying respect to a statue of Obama, I wouldn't call it idolatry.

Whether Republican or Democrat, the American Presidency has always been about personality, image over content, all bought by money. How else can one explain the election wins of a simple minded geriatric like Reagan or the inarticulate and intellectually deficient Bush?

You are trying to pass hyperbole as fact.

People are foaming at the bit to sweep BUSH and his group of cronies out of the White House. This not blind faith, its fucking common sense. McCain --- sad as it is to say --- is fruit of the poisonous tree.

Four Trillion in new debt, endless wars, a failure of the government to do its job on the Environment, Disaster Relief, and mortgage regulation --- your eye is off the ball and your finger is not on the American pulse.

Oh, let's not forget Abu Ghraib, renditions, waterboading, politicization of the justice department, WMD (not), failed war in Afghanistan...........

The Pain, When will it end????????? (Not soon enough.)

What 'is' ? Believing in a candidate is 'idolatry'? It looks like you're putting ideas in people's minds without asking them whether they agree or not  .

Believing in a candidate is idolatry, yes.  Agreement is not a requisite element of truth.

Believing in a candidate is also foolish.  No matter how noble his words, he is still just a lying, sniveling, thieving politician.  If you think otherwise, you have not been paying attention.

Then you've got a lot of catching up to do with berating McCain, his policies, opinions, and those voters who 'believe' in him and his message.
