Today was my second of two sessions every week with the Psychiatrist, here after referred to as shrink lady.

Shrink lady has been trying for months to get me to explain why I have a devote dislike for the human race in general, although I do make exceptions, and most of them happen to be members of these boards.

I finally decided, because I was in one of those moods, to explain why that is so.
So, I said:
"The reason is simple, after spending time wondering around this rock and seeing what humans have a nasty habit of doing to each other, and I am referring to more than just war, I decided sometime ago that the majority of the human race really is a waste of space.
People are starving all over the world while others waste enough food in a year to feed a small village for 10 years.
And of course we have those holier than thou bible thumpers who claim that cancer, aids, poverty, drought, plague and everything else they can think of as punishments from heaven, when a number of these same bible thumpers are screwing around on thier wives, or worse.
Finally, there are these wonderful psychiatrists and therapists that have just as many if not more mental hang ups as their patiants, such as a certian young shrink with 36 c cups who goes braless wearing silk shirts and keeps her office ac set at sub fucking artic.
And, in truth, she probably needs some guy to screw her silly so that she isnt such an uptight bitch of a tease."

My session lasted all of ten minutes since I walked out before she could come up with a response. I will probably get a new shrink from the practice, but who gives a crap.

Now, for all those people who have totally opened their mouth and spoke their mind in the most undiplomatic way possible, this thread is for you. This includes military types who found a way to tell their CO he was the biggest asshole on the planet in such a way the CO couldnt figure it out until it was way too late to do anything.

I dunno, jlf ... that just seems way outta line and rude to me. Why do you have to shit all over her day? She did nothing but try and do her job. I don't find rudeness bold or attractive in any way, no matter how proud you may be of spewing it. Did it make you feel good to dump on her?

I don't know JLF,that sort of impulse control combined with your cynicism seems like recipe for disaster ....you might want to consider actually working with the next Doc instead of blowing up your session's

I think I would have stuck around to watch her reactions... and listen for her response. Hell she may have just proved you right, which still would have been a valid reason to either schedule another session or find a new doc.

I remember as we were loading out for deployment, a young newly commissioned Ensign (who was already building a reputation for being a domineering power freak) spotted me and another corporal packing the division truck with gear, started almost jogging to get into line of sight, so we would stop to salute him. As he go closer we kept working and positioned our backs to his approach. As he got to where we were, he did the universal grunt for I want somebody to pay attention to me (cleared his throat), we ignored it and kept working. He finally burst into a tantrum about how we were disrespecting him, and that he ordered us to attention. He began talking about how we were going on report, yadda, yadda, yadda. Our Gunney heard and watched the entire thing, and popped out to intervene... He explained that we were under orders to get the job done asap, as it was mission critical, and that how he was sure if we had our rifles we would salute him with the respect that he deserved. The Ensign apologized and went back in the direction he came from... The Gunney winked at us and informed us "now don't be taking my explanation as a suggestion or endorsement to pop the prick."

First it is a professional setting intended to assist in envoking potentially powerful emotions not a garden party. In her mind Shrink lady may consider it growth. A simple opening up of a persons preceptions on life in their own words is not rude. Shrink lady would have a easy go of practice if that is the harshest session. Having someone come at you with the same questions about the same crap over and over week after week get old, fast. Can feel more like an interrogation then a session. Hell seen a group session start to shape up in to a riot nearly, next session it was laughed off.
Second add to the list that with current production rates, population and such, that an estimated one third of the world would still go hungry every night even without waste. Might sour ones outlook. Not to mention a steady diet of the human race trying to destroy itself either in the name of nartural resources or morality, has in the past clouded my day.

Of course it's not a garden party, and I'm not saying that the therapist wouldn't have been able to handle his diatribe if given the chance. But to be personal about it is just rude (telling her she needs to get laid) and then to brag about it on the boards to show some sort of prowess is childish. Breakthroughs are going to be emotional, messy things ... perhaps this was on the way to one, but he didn't give it much of a chance.

Next time you're with a therapist, jlf, maybe try and be honest without being caustic - you just may accomplish something.

Why are you wasting her time which she could spend much more productively with someone who does want help?
Why not just call to cancel and say you don't think you need help?

Sounds like somebody's got a case of the Mondays....

jlf - A few suggestions.....go visit a group home for people with Autism and observe what the volunteers and low paid staff do for a day. Do the same thing at your local orphanage, hospital burn unit and aids clinic.

Volunteer yourself for Habitat for Humanity, a soup kitchen or Meals on Wheels.

Join the Peace Corp, Red Cross or Salvation Army

I'm no psychiatrist....although I did drive past a Holiday Inn today......but me thinks there might be a degree of self loathing being projected out on to the world from deep in the heart of Texas.....
