ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (2/26/2011 5:05:54 AM)

Pardon the delay for acknowledging of the post but I greatly appreciate your help.  I have to go to Lowes soon anyway.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (3/1/2011 12:09:47 PM)

Depending how things are Wednesday, I will get a dowel unless I get that set on Ebay.

Now, to get to camo #3 worked up.

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Needles and Hooks (3/1/2011 12:31:43 PM)

spring is coming -- what are some things you've made with crochet/knitting/whatever it is you do that can be worn in warmer weather?
i'm thinking of crocheting a bag. i've also seen really nice crocheted tank tops.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (3/1/2011 12:39:31 PM)

I am planning a couple of tank tops for the girls and J, being the 'man' that he is wants to copy his dad.

I have a special afghan for the county fair this year and I need to get all of the yarns together. (If Butch and Mary Lynn can wait, unless I chose one of their afghans for the fair).

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Needles and Hooks (3/1/2011 2:46:23 PM)

i imagine there are patterns online; that might be a fun project to try.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (3/1/2011 4:01:53 PM)

And I have directions...Goddess knows how I am...)O([;)]

I am to make a Cthulhu critter after I get the 3 afghan stitched up.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (3/3/2011 7:17:05 PM)

I finish the camo afghan tonight, the penguin and the ladybug tomorrow.  Got to get things together for his party. (delay it so he can friends tomorrow).

Someone get me a fuzzy navel wine cooler so I can see straight...LOL

i like variegated/chunky yarns

Here's an idea you might like. Since it's bags and not clothes (I cannot do clothes with Red Hart *shudder*!), try getting several skeins of different variegated Red Hart yarns, light to dark- 1 skein of the lightest, 2 skeins per each middle color, one skein of the darkest. If you crochet holding 2 different skeins together and 'walk' from lightest combo to darkest, it comes out looking like a stripey watercolor quilt. I suggest Red Hart simply because of all the color choices

Since I am really tired and probably not describing this the best way, here's a pic of a wrap I did with eyelash yarn that shows what I mean (the pic isn't very good, the wrap is much prettier than this). This is single crochet in every other:

Those are loely, Wyld!

I finished a long sleeved sweater in the bargain handpaint...fits! (Duh) and the lace I knitted for the cuffs and hem are a big improovement. Kind of a "busy" fabric, and not wildly flattering, but cool looking and fun.

WyldHrt -> RE: Needles and Hooks (3/3/2011 10:41:21 PM)

I call it my 'body rug', Hibbie, due to the super skooshiness (it's tripled). I made it while I was in Australia, helping a friend get her MIL's house ready for sale. I had no TV in my room at the house, and my friend is a morning person while I'm a night owl... and it just so happened that one of the local 'everything' shops was having a super sale on eyelash yarn, 4 skeins for $5... [:D]

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (3/4/2011 6:18:17 AM)

I need to finish 3 afghans today (1 really), get a Cthulhu doll up and going, try to get the county afgan already, checkout a quilt show in the later this month.
So I will not be disturb at this time.  I got my MP3s playing and not lurking...

Why, thankies! [:D] It even saves on heating costs when the temps dip and I throw it on my bed. Most of what I crochet is prezzies for friends and family, but that one is all mine!  [:)]

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (3/5/2011 3:07:02 AM)

I got a hexagon afghan that I used on my bed.  Its hands off if someone touches it.

Its the warmest one that I done up.

ETA:  I am missing some yarn needles...might have to run in to town to get some more and a sewing bag...

You sure about that??? [8|]

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (3/5/2011 5:47:02 AM)

I got 3 projects going (just end to tied that up...pun intented.) and then I can get the Cthulhu ready in 2 days unless the stars are right and I get devoured.

I just love Lovecraft...now, where Mom hide that book...

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Needles and Hooks (3/5/2011 8:16:39 AM)

Shahar, you have just scored about a million endearment points with your "run into town" remark. haha ^_^
i say that here, even though i live in town, and people get confused. it's a habit from growing up.

i have several things i need to work on as gifts for friends. my aunt wants a scarf like the one i made my grandma, and my mom is just interested in learning to do it herself, which is snazzy. =)
i'm also making a blue blanket for my dog. haha =P

really want to learn to make zill mufflers!! i lost one half of a pair i had, and they sure make practicing more pleasant. i LOVE zills, but they can get a little nerve wracking after a while. rounds really confuse me, though -- working on it.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (3/7/2011 3:45:09 PM)

My 50 gauge knitting needles came in today.  Mom asked what they were for and I snapped back "I am knitting socks for giants"

She was laughing so hard, I had to help her up from the floor.

I cannot wait to see pictures of Cthulhu all finished.
